"Stirring the pot," "pokin fun," "just playin,", so to speak, is ok on a very friendly degree, but needling a player at his flaws is no way to behave and most importantly the best way to scare chips off, either in a tournament or especially a No Limit cash game. I've come accross this numerous times in tournaments where there is a fish who gets their out on a player with the better hand which results in childish word throwing and results in tilting the fish, which is easy to do cause they are fish, and making them play so reckless no one gains a thing. Phil Gordon has a good example, a few years ago he was playing in a small casino in northern California with Dave "Diceboy" Lambert killing a $10/$20 limit game. There was one particularly bad player at the table, and Dave was getting the best of him almost every single hand. The fish would see every flop, chase every draw, and pay off every single winner, the ultimate ATM machine, gotta love 'em. After about an hour the guy started complained about losing so much. "Well, if you didn't see every flop, you wouldn't lose every hand," responded Dave. "Man I'm beating you like a red-headed stepchild." (He loves to say that.) Needless to say the fish got angry. Phil got scared - not that the guy would hit Dave but that he'd change tables or leave the casino altogether. Phil turned around, looked and said deadpan, "Hey Diceboy, please don't tap on the aquarium." Dave laughed and immediatly stopped needling the fish. He turned the entire situation around and became friendly with the guy, who hung around for three more hours long enough for two more trips to the cash machine and $100 loan from his buddy.
The moral of the story: Let them learn on their own, and don't tap on the aquarium.

You always need to be friendly to the fish.

If they like you at the table......they wont notice the lack of chips in front of them

i'd rethink this line. but you're mostly correct.

i also think what phil said is stupid. do you honestly think the player he was referring to didn't know exactly what he was saying? saying that makes it sound like they're ganging up on him.

yes i am mostly correct because of the long term results (think before you act please). Phil was at another table, i'm not going to explain it, it was in his book, find it and read it. If you are offended in my wording, you just caught me on an "off day" deal with it.

That's the point.

You're trying to tell us that no one benefits from the fish playing like that...

Don't the good players benefit?

I hate you, stupid professora know it all fish. I hate you so much. I hate when you talk about pot odds at the table. I hate when you tell someone they should have value bet. I HATE when you tell someone "suited only adds 2 percent to your win chance, it's no reason by itself to call" I HATE when you berate a bad player at the table. I HATE when you yell at Mama Sue, telling her that she shouldn't be playing 359J and that she had no business calling on the flop with her gut shot. I HATE HATE HATE When you make Mama sue leave 'cause you can't keep your stupid mouth shut. I HATE when you tell people in pot limit omaha 8/or better that they are calling big bets to win half the pot. I HATE IT. I hate it when you make players tighten up, I HATE it when you make players leave . I HATE YOU SO FUKING MUCH. There's nothing I hate more than dumb professors, with their Skalanky books in tow, talking about semi bluffs and implied odds. I HATE it when they have their HH2 in toe, and start talking about "pushing ranges" and "M's" and telling otehr people that " If I were you, I'd push with something as little as 8-10 suited when it's folded around" SHUT THE FCK UP! DOn't tell people my push range, they may call me when I just want to win the blinds, plz SHT THE HELL UP. I know it sucks to get your aces sucked out on. I know his only outs were runner runner. I know he was just calling huge bets for half the pot. but please, for the love of god JUST SAY NICE HAND AND BE QUIET. Don't take out your frustrations out on bad players, please, for christs sake. Don't berate players for pushing all in 20xtimes your bet with 10-7 off suit, just because it crakced yoru ace king Oh great.. now the fish has stopped pushing all in crazily preflp, thanks professor! OH GREAT, NOW THE FISH AND HIS DRUNK FRIEND have cashed out, and I'm stuck in a game with the professor and Oldie McRock. THANKS PROFESSOR.
Listen, if any of you guys otu there are loud mouth professors, please, for the love of god, shut up.

I am one of the guilty ones who can't resist pointing out to the fish how much they suck at poker after they beat me, so I've had my chat turned off on both FT and Stars to keep me from doing it. I miss the chat sometimes, but not being able to get sucked into "discussions" keeps me focused and tilt-free. If you can't stop giving lessons at the table, send an email to support and ask them to turn it off.
