A Writing Machine22 Apr 2006
I'm habitually behind on both my Card Player column and my syndicated newspaper column, not to mention my book. Well, last night was a good night on that front.
I didn't wake up till about 6:00pm after spending the previous night sulking about my exit from the WPT Championship while catching up on ALL of my Tivo'ed shows, with the exception of some poker shows.
Last night, with nothing on the Tivo I actually watched a little sports for the first time in a while. Wow, sweet win for the Blue Jays coming back from a 6-2 deficit to the powerful Bosox to win in 12 innings.
I also had a good night in my playoff hockey pool, and am currently in second place in my Survivor-Panama pool. Bruce going down with an injury hurt me a bit as I had him as my #2 seed.
After all that, I had some free time and was motivated to get caught up on some writing. I wrote three Card Player columns and also had time to write 3 weeks worth of syndicated columns. That's a total of about 5000 words.
Then I turned to my next bit of stress related chores and started chopping away at my instructional book that is set to be released later this year. So far, Iím VERY happy with it and think you guys will all learn a ton from it when itís released.
All told, I wrote over 10,000 words and now I'm... I'm writing the blog? Wow, check me out, all caught up and everything :-)
It's 8:15am right now and I'm not really tired yet. I think I'm going to take a break from the writing, though, and go get a new set of golf clubs. My other set is stuck at Shadow Creek and I was looking to pick up a new set anyway.
After I pick up a brand new set of clubs I'm thinking about either hitting some balls at the range, getting a lesson, or maybe even playing a round. It'll all depend on how tired I am.
On an unrelated note, I'm really liking the way my schedule is looking over the next few months. It's actually relatively sane and I'm looking forward to the time so I can work on my body and mind.
I'll be in Toronto from April 27th to May 3rd, but after that it's not too bad. I'll be at E3 in LA on May 11th and then on May 30th I'll be in New York for the day to help promote the release of STACKED with Daniel Negreanu.
I'll of course have lots of things to do while home in Vegas, but I plan on doing lots of writing, playing lots of golf, and making lots of money down at the Bellagio in the big game.
It's beautiful. Just looking at my schedule I mean, it just looks so clean. I love it. Exactly what I'll need before the absolutely grueling two months at the WSOP this year.
As for tonight, I won't be playing any poker. Probably not a good idea to be playing poker on no sleep for 24 hours. The next poker I'll be playing is on Sunday at 1:00pm PST. I'm actually super excited about it.
Me being a fantasy sports junky, a pool junky, and a poker junkie, I came up with a really cool idea and the guys in the forum seem to love it. It's called the FCP Heads Up League, and it's a league that runs virtually identical to the NFL.
There are 8 divisions of 4 and two conferences with a 15 game schedule. On Sunday, we play 1:00pm games, 4:00pm games, an 8:00pm game, and of course, a Monday Night Game at 9:00pm.
Each division winner qualifies for the playoffs along with two wild card teams. The two top seeds in each conference get a bye into the next round. Sound familiar? Like I said, it's just like the NFL, the only difference is that these games are decided over a heads up no limit hold'em sit n' go.
The buy in was $500 and FCP added a significant amount of money to the prize pool which I thought was nice. It is just going to be so much fun all season long I just can't wait for my first game.
Unfortunately, no one can enter the league now as it's full. If you are interested in checking out what we've created, check out the website we created for it at FCP Heads Up League
