Jonesing for Poker!

12 Oct 2005

I was already jonesing for poker before watching the show last night, but after watching it, it inspired me to even more.

Sammy had told me that he had me beat every time I laid my hand down and I believed him then, but it was nice to see that I was right to believe him.

Immediately after the event was over I remember people talking about how Sammy "outplayed" me that day. That didn't really bother me, but it was nice to know that it was quite the opposite that afternoon.

So on that note, I decided to get some time in playing online. I just wanted to get my feet wet a little bit and entered a $500 one table sit n' go. After I'd bought in I realized it was some kind of a step tournament where if you make the top two you get a free roll into a $2000 buy in sit n' go.

Well that definitely changes your strategy, but I was ready for it. I ended up winning the whole thing and was pumped to play another one. Unfortunately, after waiting for several hours the table never filled up.

I realize it was just a one table sit n' go, but it is a step in the right direction. It has been a while since I've done well in a tournament so it's really good for the confidence just getting used to winning again.

The last two "sessions" of poker I played were both online. The one table sit n' go yesterday and the Sunday tournament with over 3000 players where I also cashed.

Again, it's no million dollar win but it's a start. In some ways, I feel like I need to just start all over from the bottom to get back on top. I know what I'm doing, and I am really excited about playing this week in the WPT event.

With so many big tournaments these days I haven't been as "pumped" for them as I should be. Well, the main event is six days away and I'm preparing now. I'm going to play some satellites, play online, and maybe even play some of the preliminary events. On that note, I gotta run, there is poker to be played!
