So I was playing some 1/2 NL at the Borgata yesterday. I bought in short for 130 (because that's all I had on me after losing ~250 playing limit). My stack is at about 170 right now after calling a laggy player's small all-in w/ A-K and winning a small pot with 9-7 on a 9 high flop.

The hand: I raise to 7$ with AdKd UTG. This was a small raise, but with more players post-flop, it makes my decisions a lot easier, and I have the best drawing hand. As expected, I get 4 callers.

The flop: 6c As 9h

I lead for 35$, 1 fold, MP1 calls (I have him covered by about $40), 2 folds. MP1 is actually the player I played against when I won the small pot with 9-7. On that hand, I limped and bet $10(~pot size) on the flop after it checked to me. MP1 was the only caller. Turn and river went check/check. He flipped over a missed gutshot draw, and my pair of nines won the pot. So basically, MP1 calls pretty light.

The turn: 9s

My action????

Bet 3/4 of the pot, call a push.

$98 in the pot

you have $128 left on the turn.

I bet about $75 and call a push since we are committed.

Just push. If I did my math right, villain only has around $60-70 left anyway. It's coming if you don't send it.

Since we just beat this guy, wouldn't a check almost guarentee a bet from him, meaning we get all his chips?

Betting flop is standard continuation bet feeling, so checking turn gives other guy a hope that his A Q or worse is good. Once he gets that idea, he's hooked.

I know the currant chip stacks may make this a fancy play syndrom, but if the stacks were deeper, could we get more of villian's money this way?

AQ is probably calling us here regardless, and I didn't see OP say he was noticeably aggressive post flop. He just called and checked down a gutshot on previous hand. So I'm not really sure about Check/calling a bluff, although I understand the idea of trying to convince a foldable ace to commit more.

Pooooosh and call him a donk when he calls with trip 9's.

Of course, that's what you get when you only raise to $7 preflop.

How many times have you tried to run bluffs into multi-way pots? I'm not going to do too much tricky play with my small stack anyway, so why not encourage myself to play more straightforward. With 4 callers, I'm not going to lose money except to a cooler or a poor play by myself.

At least that's what I was thinking to myself at the time.

ETA: I'm pretty new to NLHE cash games, so my thinking might be completely backwards in some spots.
simo_8ball
AK is difficult to play OOP unless you hit. In a multiway pot it is easier to just give up when you miss, but in a multiway pot on a dangerous board AK can be a very awkward hand. Flops like A89/KQ9/etc. are difficult to play in the face of aggression.

Oh, and I personally don't run many bluffs in multiway pots.

Given stack size I push and reload after losing to the A/9
NocturnalRob
eh, he's playing a crappy ace. he's also just lost to you, so he's going to call pretty much anything, typical of a crappy/mediocre 1/2 player.

also, stop playing limit.

I'm sorry, that's incorrect.

Eh, it is if it's impacting his ability to buy in for the max at nl. Or, let me rephrase, stop losing at limit.
