Last night I turned on my pc and everything is a shade of green. Its like I completely lost all color. I've never seen or heard of a problem like this. My initial reaction was that maybe my monitor just burnt out but when I press the Menu button on the monitor itself it comes out in color (if that makes sense). I guess the only real way to test it would be to hook up my pc to another monitor and see what happens, however, I don't currently have a spare available.

Another possibility is maybe there's a problem with the computer itself. Maybe a problem with my graphics card? I have a Radeon 9800 pro. Or maybe a simple system restore or disk format will fix the problem?

Has anybody ever heard of a problem like this and know what might have been the cause? I know a lot of the details are a bit sketchy but I'm just hoping maybe someone can help a bit before I go out and spend money...

Thanks,
Billy

try a new monitor cable if it is detachable.

one of the solder points for a cable pin has prob dried and cracked. if you're lucky it will be in the cable. if not, the video card or monitor.

Cool, I will try that. I'd much rather replace a cable then the whole monitor so hopefully that's it. Thanks.

I heard that a recent Windows security update turns everything green when kiddie porn is detected so that the police, FBI, etc. can easily determine computers of these offenders. They talked about it on Dateline last week.

LOL

So I went ahead and just disconnected the cables and blew on them Nintendo style then reconnected them and boom everything works perfect now. icon_biggrin.gif

cardinal rule for computer fixing: reboot and check your cabling. 90% fixit rate
