This is a far off possibility, but I thought I might get the input of some residents of Las Vegas. I am currently a high school mathematics teacher in Connecticut. I am finishing my 5th year teaching. My wife and I have often tossed around the idea of moving to Vegas for a short time while we are still young and childless. My first question is, how are the schools in Vegas? Does anyone know any good middle or high school's that would be a nice place to try and get a job? Do the schools run the same September to mid June 182 day schedule like they do in CT? Breaks for xmas, february, and april? Any info or input anyone can give me would be very much appreciated. If people have salary info as well, that would be greatly appreciate too. Thanks in advance.

I don't live there and i'm sure you will get better advice from locals. But my friends with kids who live out there say the school systems are pretty terrible in general and you really have to pick and choose.

Raleigh needs 1000 teachers and will make offers over the phone without even meeting you. But that's neither here nor there I guess.

Alright, 3 things in response:

1. second hand info is better than no info, so thank you. I kind of figured what your friends said is what I was going to here. Hopefully someone will be able to chime in with what schools are the ones to pick and choose so I can look into those specifically.

2. I do love Raleigh, but the wifey isn't completely sold on it though. I drove down from CT on 3 occasions to check out some Hurricanes games and Ron Francis retirement night. I love that city and may end up there later in life if it stays as nice as it is now.

3. God bless your profile picture!
