6 person sit and go, 6-handed, blinds are 100/200. starting stacks are 5k.

villain is super aggressive, has shown down 36 offsuit in a hand he raised preflop. i've never seen him squeeze but i lent him HoH so i know he understands the play.

hero has 12k and is on the button, villain has 9k in the bb.

folds to hero with AJ offsuit. raise to 600.
sb calls.
villain raises to 3000.
hero calls.
sb folds.

It would be a horrible call, it's either push or fold. I think I'd give villain the benefit of the doubt over trying to pick off his first squeeze ever, make sure that you see him using a squeeze play before you try to pick them off.

I also believe AJ is not strong enough here. If you really feel he is off then push but folding definitely seems right if this is the first time you've seen the squeeze.

So does this mean you both think he does this 0% with 88-TT? What % are you giving to AQ/AK/QQ/KK?
cubbybri
I say about 5-10% of time he does this with TT-88(my quick math I gave 6.6%. TT more often and less frequesnt to 99 and so on with 8s. So I give a min 90% toAA-JJ and AQ/AK.

Conservative, not overly. I also don't know poster's image at the moment. If he is perceived a loose raiser it may change my opinion a bit more. 600 chips is OK for me to lose since I have not seen squeeze from villain yet.

I (button) am viewed, specifically by this player, as conservative. Tight pre-flop, very calculated aggression. Sb is weak and passive.

Hell no! He could have a bunch of stuff you are racing with and not way behind, but we don't know. We have never ever seen him use a squeeze before and we don't need to win this pot, its overly aggressive, we have a fine stack and nice structure. You could be flipping but it's very doubtful that you have him in bad shape, whereas he could have you in bad shape and he has a stack that could hurt you badly.

I believe you pretty well just answered your own question. If you're tight preflop, then he's giving you credit for a decent hand, and he's still reraising...

Agreed here, I think you need solid evidence he'll pull the squeeze if he thinks you are tight smart(calculated aggression).

Find a better spot or wait and see if he showsdown this play with junk.
