You could be a victim of ID fraud if you release certain info via mail, fax or on line. While I have and do play on many on line poker sites I ran into something new on one site. While I had played on this site for over six months I had not made a withdraw (we all have dry periods). But after winning a few tourneys I was ready to make a withdraw. Well I was told that I could not make a withdraw until I filled out a form with all my private info, photo copied two IDs and front and back of my credit cards. I am a retired police officer and have dealt with ID fraud before and have advised people never to send this type info by fax, mail or on line as they can all be intersepted. Also the info will be placed into a computer system with your pictured ID, private info and credit card info, in other words all the info need to steal your ID. I have made many withdraws from various sites (both ones that are still open and ones we can no longer play on) and have never had to give this info before. I refused to give this info as my ID is worth more than the money they had of mine. I will say I do not believe the site would use the info for anything but what they say they will but if someone can get info secure goverment sites they can get into that one. I would recommend that no one send this type info and if a site wants it then go to another site as I have. I will just donk my money away on that site. Hey at least I get to play those hands that I wanted to play but was to smart to try. Good luck and please watch what info you have given out.
