Full Version: Sng Volume

Everytime i've started to build a roll i have found success playing sit n gos. I usually then try to carry that over to MTTs and fail miserably. So... I'm experimenting with playing nothing but sit n go tourneys for a long time.

I started playing the 2.25s on full tilt (all full table, non-turbo, single table only). After building to 30 buyins for the 5.50s i've been playing there.

What will be a good volume to actually care about my ROI numbers? I know i'm not there yet. I've played 67 in the last week or so.

Any other major advice i should look for as i continue my sit n go quest? What limits have the largest differences, will i notice a huge jump if i make my bankroll to 30 x the 11s and begin playing there?

All advice welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Put in another 15 or so at the 5.50 level. Just bumping this thread.

Any and all Sit n Go advice is welcome.

I'd say the play gets a bit better once you hit the $55+ games.

i think the ROI figures are only trustworty once you reach the 1000's in number of sngs played

Thanks Jargonator. I pretty well knew the hand count value that most people respect, but didn't know how to equate the sit n go volume.

SNG's are very profitable because few people know optimal strategy in these at low stakes and are essentially just a math equation. MTT's are a completely different animal. I would recommend playing one or two levels lower for MTT's (in your case $2 or $1 MTT's), for a couple of reasons.

1. Variance
MTT's have so much more variance than 9 man SNG's. The best players in the world playing optimally at all times can go 25 times without cashing in a MTT, and players like you and I can do even more. The best players cash around 15-20% of the time, and SNG's you're probly cashing a lot more than that.

2. Make sure your SNG wins aren't leveling off your MTT losses.
Let's say you play 4 9 man $5 SNG's and win $15 for a ROI of 75%, which is very good. You then turn around and play 3 MTT's and not cash and lose $15 and suddenly your SNG profit just went down the gutter. But if you play 3 $2 MTT's you only lose $6 if you don't cash and you still have a $9 profit.

I would recommend playing a MTT here and there, maybe set a standard like 1 for every 5 or so, and not just going all out on SNG's because you can really get burnt out playing SNG's and one big MTT score could significantly help your bankroll.

Nice advice--my ratio is probably more like 1 to 10 or 15; but my MTT win last week increased my bankroll over 700%.
