Bah, second time i post a hand that reaks of a beat i guess. I honestly just wanted to know if you call that bet. I am not trying to complain. It's just a spot where im confused since he 3bet the flop.
litlebullet
I would play that hand exactly the same as villain if I have a set or even a pair of nines. You have to call.
Zach6668
You got 4-bet on the flop... unless NL people do it wrong...

Anyways, you're getting better than 2-1, I don't think you can consider folding.
tripdeuces
blah its late i mean early oh well 4 bets thanks for the mod correction. Up too early Zach????
simo_8ball
Don't open raise to 5xbb with 54s preflop.

Don't fold on the flop.
tripdeuces
By saying don't open raise preflop i just don't get your input. Care to explain why, instead of making some broad statement?

Calls, and hopes the board doesn't pair.

Was he splashing chips around a lot? Against someone with a vpip of 68.2 over >100 hands I'm probably calling off unless all he's also been generally passive and this is out of character for him. I hate going broke on the dummy end of a straight though.

No, I like open raising preflop. I don't like 5xbb. I feel it is far too much. 2.5 or 3 bb is fine for an opening raise.

It's a recurring theme in my posts. Raise small preflop.

1. meh - you have to be a bad *** post flop player to do this.
2. yes, I mean, no, don't fold now. this is why you play that garbage.

There are many reasons, but basically look up 'smallball' for most of them.

'smallball' doesnt work for everyone, some people prefer bigger pots, and at these kind of limits, 5x doesnt mean much anway.
