calls and c/f's river unimproved.

That's the tricky part.

When i smooth call , i will only have 12$ left on river and there will be 28$ in the pot.

Now i have 17 left on turn after the bet. If i push , there will be 52$ in the pot. Putting 17$ for 52$ with 9 outs plus the chance of having the best hand already.

Isn't it very close or am i making a mistake calculating the odds?

He is out playing pool.

Even if you're ahead even one time in 10, I think this is still a call. If villain is straight-forward, you aren't ahead 1 in 10.

You could try to push him off a non-nut flush, which may make the turn shove an option. Of course, he may have already put you on AA, so chances of inducing a fold may also be negligible.

Scenario 1

Villain has flush.

Your best play - call, and c/f river unimproved.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scenario 2

Villain has no flush.

Your best play - call, and either value bet or c/c river.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The turn is a clear call. There is no value in shoving.

Given that villain will probably check behind with 2 pair or a set on the river a large amount of the time, I think you can safely assume you are going to be able to fold to a river bet. Read dependent though.
