As of today (4/28/07), the following rules will be strictly enforced:


Descriptive Post Titles:

Please include:

• Type of Game: Heads Up, Shorthanded, Full Ring, 3-handed, etc. This is VERY important.
• Stakes: $100 NL, 2/4 NL, etc.
• Site/Location: PokerStars, Full Tilt, Bellagio, Grand Resort in Tunica, etc.
• General description of the situation. For specific hand posts: 88 in the BB, AKo facing a reraise, etc. For theory posts, please make the title as descriptive as possible.

Example:

AK Facing a Reraise - $200 NL on Stars

(Bold is the main "Topic Title", and the italics are the "Topic Description".)

Specific Hand Posts:

• First and foremost, if the hand is from online poker, please convert your hand using one of the following hand converters: Bad Beats and Good Vibes Converter, Flop, Turn, River Converter. For information on the hand converters, please refer to the Forum Posting Guidelines. For live hands, please do your best to make them appear similar to the converted hands, including all of the same information (pot size, positions, etc).
• Please include ALL relevant information. This includes stack sizes (make sure the option is checked when converting your hands), any reads you had at the time of the hand, including PokerTracker statistics, etc.
• Do NOT include results of the hand. This includes BOTH the cards villains held, as well as their actions after the play you are questioning. For example, if you are asking about a preflop push, include upto your push, and do NOT show whether or not villains called or folded, etc. Regardless of what you think, this information will bias the replies.

Do NOT Post:

• Bad beats, coolers, or brag posts: These happen in poker, and generally have no place in a strategy discussion. Some hands you are just destined to go broke, and some hands you get the money in as a significant favorite at lose. I reserve the right to move any post that I deem fit to the Bad Beat Forum, or close the topic altogether. Similarly, brag posts where you think you made a hero call, or a sensational fold, etc should not be posted unless there is legitimately some strategic discussion that could come from them. Again, I reserve the right to close any topics that I deem to not offer any strategic discussion.
• General questions: Poker is a situational game, general questions in themselves are usually counterproductive to the learning process. You should not be asking what to do in general situations because in reality, there are no general situations. Each situation is different, and should be approached as such. Asking, and thinking in generalities will have a negative effect on your ability to assess specific situations as the unique situations that they are.

Doesn't this seem a little...drastic? I think people will be more inclined to find a different forum than feel they will be moderated if they don't stick to every single rule. Hell, I'd have to print out those instructions and tape them to my computer desk to remember all of those.

I feel like I'm at work, every day there's some new strange rule that makes no sense. That's just my two cents.

This is basically just telling you to not make vague posts. Seriously, it's not that hard. Everyone is sick of these: "Can I Get Away From This?", "AA", etc. Take 2 seconds to be descriptive.

And the second part, if a poster shows zero effort to follow the guidelines, it's going to be locked. Basically, this means, if you post the full HH, unconverted, leave results, don't include reads, post in the wrong forum, I'm not going to do the OP the favor of converting, and moving the post, so they get the feedback they want, when they didn't bother to put in any effort on their own end. The effort thing works both ways, if the OP puts effort into their post, you can expect more effort from those who reply.

One more thing, the reason the titles thing is important, is there has been a lot of talk of people not noticing SH hands, or HU hands, and if it's in the title, it's clear. Same with SNG and MTT hands in the Tourney forum, as some people are having difficulties distinguishing between the two.

I see where you're coming from. Makes sense.

it might be nice if people started saying what the pot size was on each street.

1) it takes less time for one person who whip out a calculator and do it then for everyone to unless you can do it in your head in which case im kinda jelous.

2) not having that very important piece of information prominently displayed means that it is going to get ignored more than its fair share.

QFMFT. Pot size is so useful.

I'm finding that the listed converters screw up UB hand histories as they're created today.

The Deuces Cracked one seems to work.
