Full Version: Wsop Blind Structure For Omaha Hi/lo

Ok. I've played lots of ON-LINE Omaha Hi/Lo pot limit and Omaha Hi-lo Limit. What I don't understand is the schedule of play for WSOP Event # 42 (Pot Limit) and WSOP Event #44 (LIMIT).

For example, in Event #42 (Pot Limit), the blinds for LEVEL 1 are at $25-$50. The schedule of play says CALL $50 OR MAKE IT $100 to $175. What does this mean...am I limited to $100-$175 for a raise?
If I'm on the button and there are 7 $50 limpers in front of me ( I know, this is VERY unlikely), why couldn't I raise to $425 which is what would be in the pot
(the seven $50 limpers plus the $50 and $25 from the SB and BB)?

What am I missing here??? I will confess this will be my first LIVE omaha Hi/lo split tourney, but all of the on-line Hi-lo pot limit tourneys I have played limit the raise to what's in the pot!

Also, in Event #44 (Limit), the blinds for LEVEL 1 are at $25-$50. The schedule says Limits are $50-$100 for Level 1. So, there's only one raise in limit??? Again, I must be missing something as all of the limit games I play on-line usually have a 3-bet maximum raise, not one.

Thank you in advance for your response. icon_dance.gif

Not sure about the Pot Limit thing,

But in #44 Limit, if the blinds are $25/$50, then yes the limits would be $50/$100. That's $50 (preflop and post flop) / $100 (turn and river). Probably the standard 3 raises.

cham, can you comment on this? i thought level 1 was 25/25 last year. is it cause all the tournaments are double stacked. if that's the reason it's still ridiculous, cause then what's the point of making them double stacked.

a PLO8 game w/ the 1st level @ 25-50 (even starting with 3000) is going to be a total crap shoot for the first 3 or 4 levels.

I think this is just sematics. In limit games SB and BB refer to Small Bet (preflop and flop) and Big Bet (turn and river). The small blind is half the Small Bet. So it makes sense if you remember at the first level the small blind is $25, the big blind is $50, the betting increment in $50 preflop and on the flop, and $100 betting increments for the turn and river.

Whether you can 3 or 4 bet is a different issue.

A few things:

1. The structure sheet is the best it gets - last year in the 5K O8 they skipped the first level completely because they needed to get down to 27 (from 450 ish) in one day.

2. Daniel has said quite a bit about stacks and structures.....and he is 100% correct that the critical isssue is the ratio between the 2. The other thing to watch out for is the increment pattern between levels - 50% jump in blinds can really have an impact, 33% is OK, anything less is great.

3. The first few levels are actually a great opportunity for a solid player to build a stack as long as you have the right table and get some cards. With PLO8, this will be even more the case as many US O8 players will be unfamiliar with the nuances of the game. Also, don't be surpirsed if they decide to make it a re-buy event (remember: you heard the rumor start here first!).
