If that doesn't flat-out guarantee a Buffalo victory, I don't know what will.

I am a Bills fan however...We all know Buffalo and Championships dont go so good together...I have lived through the painful "wide right" and the 4 consecutive losses...
Lets face it, Buffalo has a jinx...Red Sox had Babe Ruth, The cubs have the goat...Buffalo has...ummm.....dont know..but its bad.

All it takes to break a jinx is one good run. I won't deny that the road to the Cup final is paved in tears, but the Sabres are a gritty team with a lot of veterans who've been oh-so-close before. Even if a lot of people are starting to doubt them (Renney, etc), they've got a ton of fight in them and haven't even *started* playing Playoff Hockey yet.

I didn't do so hot in my 1st round predictions, I took Dallas, Tampa and Pittsburgh as my upsets and none pulled through for me, although I wouldn't change any of the picks based on my thinking at the time.
I went 5-3 (Detroit, SJ, Buffalo, NYR, and Anaheim) for the 1st round. Shows you what I get for trying to pick against the grain.

AJS will be happy.... I just went on TV and picked the Sabres in 5.... (Although I was slightly goaded into it!!). I believe Sean Avery will be a huge factor.... in a negative way. If the Sabres can stay disciplined, Avery will take stupid penalties, and the Rangers will implode. Realistically, I believe the Sabres will win in 6 or 7, but it made for better TV to say they'd win in 5.....

Sidenote: most boring guy ever? Rick Dudley....

its amazing how you sit on the fence on every prediction..You say sabres in 5..However you think it will go 7...Then when it goes 7 and Rangers win you say..See I told you it would go 7...
I really dont understand how everyone is misreading this series...I take Jagr and Shanahan versus 15 Briere, Vanek, Afinogenov,Drury ANYDAY of the week...
I really believe that the Sabres are overmatched here...If Rangers steal one in Buffalo it will be a very quick series...

Last minute picks.
Sabres in 4 - Rangers suck
Devils in 6 - Brodeur > Emery, Devils' D-men underrated (for a change)
Ducks in 5 - Luongo can't stop everything, and Anaheim will score more than Dallas
Wings in 6 - Off the SJ bandwagon until they (read: Joe Thornton) prove me wrong
Reelishymn

8-0 in first round...
Conference Semi-Finals
NYR vs Buffalo
-Should be an interesting series. Sabres have more depth on forward and defense for sure, but Rangers goaltending has the edge. I don't think the Sabres have faced the Rangers with Avery so he may create some problems for them. I think high-scoring series with Sabres on top. Buffalo in 6.
Ottawa vs New Jersey
-The Sens won the season series vs the Devils and I think they can win this one with their deep squad. The Devils missing Colin White might be a huge factor as he plays like 25 min/game. Ottawa in 6.
Anahiem vs Vancouver
-The Ducks are simply bigger and tougher than the Canucks, and they beat 'em up pretty bad in the season series (3-0-1). Nucks could REALLY use Matt Cooke and Ryan Kesler vs the Ducks as they bring a tireless forechecking/agitating presence to the ice. If the Nucks' offense is as weak as last series, they don't stand a chance. Anahiem in 5.
Detroit vs San Jose
-Great matchup here. I think the Sharks are deeper in offense and can wear the Wings down. San Jose in 7.
