Are you bluffing or are you trying to get value from a draw? I don't get it.

I make bets like that a lot but I usually do it for less (here i would bet $6).

I am just trying to win the pot there. I think he will be drawing to a flush or a straight there most of the time so he can't call a big bet. That was my reasoning.

You had a pretty hand preflop, made a good raise, and pretty much whiffed on the flop. Once you make a play for the pot there and get called, I probably slow or shut down.
