2007 WSOP to air in high-definition

Everything will be absolutely clear at the 2007 World Series of Poker (WSOP). According to TVweek.com, ESPN has decided to upgrade its coverage of the WSOP to high-definition TV.

This will be the first time a regular poker series will be shown in high definition.

In total, 32 hours of HDTV will be produced from the 2007 WSOP, and ESPN's coverage will include the Main Event and several other tournaments.

According to the report at TVweek.com, the hole cams showing what cards the players are holding will not be upgraded to HD format.

ESPN has broadcast the World Series of Poker since 2003, when Chris Moneymaker took the pot and launched the game to new heights, and has increased its coverage of the biggest poker tournament in the world ever since.

The network has an agreement to air the WSOP through 2010, and the upgrade to HDTV is a natural step in its coverage.

Live poker is a lot about tells and studying players' reactions. The HD format will give the ESPN viewers a great opportunity to learn how the best players in the world act in different situations.
