I just won a 9000 chip pot in the PStars $25,000 guaranteed with KK to one guy's QQ and another's A9. This is the following hand (the guy pushing is the one that had QQ)...

With that size of stack relative to the table, I call in a millisecond.

I'm having a hard time figuring out what the hell this guy is doing.
I'd need some stats on him before I could say what to do.

I say call. Normally, with the stacks this deep relative to the blinds, I'd find it easier to lay it down, absent a read. However, this guy is likely on tilt and is making a huge overbet here relative to the blinds. I think Jacks are way ahead here, and a coin flip at worst. Given your stack size I do think a coin flip here is worthwhile. Even if you lose it, you'll still be in a strong chip position.

He probably has AK, a lot of noobs do that with AK. I say call, you have chips to spare.

Fold up. Use your chip lead to your advantage, not to get into coin flips with short stacks preflop.

Wow, this is too weak, imo. Let's look at the situation:

1) All-in player is likely on tilt
2) At WORST, the situation is a coin flip, so you have odds to call.
3) Even if you lose the hand, you still have the chip lead, and a good one at that.
4) Calling here IS using your chip lead to your advantage.

Well, apparently I made the wrong move. I folded. I folded because before those last two hands, he had been a pretty tight player. I felt that with my chip stack and the complete lack of talent at my table, I could find a better spot to put my chip in than a preflop coinflip. I folded, as did the big blind, and the guy got 75 chips.

Just to clarify. I'm not saying that folding is wrong, I just think calling is better in this particular spot. Very few rights or wrongs in poker.

No, at worst you are a 4:1 dog. My guess is likely you are a 52% favorite unless he's completely on tilt. I'm not saying you couldn't call this, I just personally wouldn't, as I like to grind people down and try not to go all-in unless I know I have the person beat.

True, he could have an overpair, but I completely discounted that possibility given the situation. My read is that I'm way ahead here.

And you wouldn't be going all-in. You'd only be risking a small % of your stack.

With your stack I'd call there, many players raise all in the next hand after losing a big portion of their stack. I think JJ is too good to lay down to this guy who could have anything, but why would you raise that big with AA or KK? Only hand that has you in bad shape would be QQ I would think, but that's still unlikely.

The fold isn't terrible though if you use that stack to steal blinds in position and push people around.

Yeah, well, after that a huge stack came to the table and I doubled up my 9000 off of him with 10-10 to his AJ. Got my stack up to 25k after the break, but busted out before the money when my AQ ran into KK.

Honestly though, I was very surprised at the lack of talent in that tournament. Is it always really bad? One guy rebought 8 times. :shock:
