Forgive the lack of Bison Converter.. site doesn't have HH's

These are both 4-handed games here, 1/2 Limit Hold'em

Dealt Q icon_suit_spade.gif J icon_suit_club.gif
UTG Folds - Im on Button and Raise to 2, SB Folds, BB calls.

Flop - 2 icon_suit_heart.gif 9 icon_suit_club.gif J icon_suit_spade.gif

BB - Bets, I smooth call

I smooth call, figuring I have best hand, knowing he's a rather aggresive player.

Turn - J icon_suit_heart.gif

Now thats the perfect card, No apparent draws, and if he's betting into me with AK I've got him beat.

BB - Bets 2

I smooth call here again, I could re-raise here and if the board shows any apparent draws I would have, but I smooth call here because I figure he will throw a 3rd shell at me on the river, and call me re-raise so I will gain an extra bet.

River - 3 icon_suit_diamond.gif

Worked the way I wanted, He Bet and I re-raised he called.

Total Pot - 13.5 BB

Now this might be a straightforward hand, but I'm trying to really tune into my shorthanded game, was this played PERFECTLY?

Just curious as to what would give you that idea?

Nice hand

This is only one hand. Your title says "hands." I dunno, just thought I'd mention it.

I'm far from a limit expert, but it seems like you played it fine to me.

I think you're placing raised where bet should be...I don't understand the action on any street.
akishore
yeah, jayweb, you're such a fish--it's "bet", not "raised", when he's first to act! laugh.gif

anyway, i really didn't like the call on the turn. the call on the flop was perfect, but you have to raise the turn IMHO.

it's likely that he might check-fold the river UI knowing that you will call him down.

if he check-folds, you earn a total of 2.5 BB from him.

if he check-calls, you earn a total of 3.5 BB from him.

if he fires a third shell and calls a raise, you earn 4.5 BB from him.

now...

if you raise the turn and he folds, you earn 2.5 BB from him.

if you raise the turn, he calls and check-folds the river, you earn 3.5 BB from him.

if you raise the turn, he calls and check-calls the river, you earn 4.5 BB from him.

this assumes that he doesn't three-bet you on the turn! or bet out again on the river! the worst-case scenario in raising the turn is the same worse-case scenario in calling the turn, but your best case scenarios are much better (if he three-bets you here and caps both streets, you earn MUCH more, for example).

see what i mean?

raise the expensive street (turn) ASAP if you slowplay the flop.

I'd raise post-flop to protect my hand. If you figure you have him beat, you want to make him pay to draw out on you.

Blah Blah.. I seperated the hands, edited it, hopefully post is right now! I'm on the phone I'll read the replies soon.

Raise the flop.

It's no where near perfect. It was lucky.
JaysonWeber
So... raise the flop? I disagree with it here, I stated that he was a very aggresive player, I've played with him a lot and I know he'll call with anything from the BB. Raise on the Flop and lose his aggression throughout? Or are you saying that if an ace comes I can't continue to call?
KDawgCometh
having top pair on that flop is nice, but you are nowhere near a lock there. You are suseptible to a K or an A. If you hit a queen then there is a straight draw on teh board. That flop needs to be raised
Mr Monkey
raise the flop. u got to protect your hand.
Rocketwadster
Only other way that I would play it is I would have raised his bet on the flop. If by my raise on the flop he doesn't bet the turn, so be it, so I'll bet it. If he is agressive like you say though and then proceeds to bet the turn, I smooth call there, setting up the river re-raise.
