Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Preflop: wroto is CO with A:club:, K:club:.
2 folds, BB calls, MP1 calls, MP3 calls.

Flop: (8.50 SB) K:spade:, 5:spade:, 2:spade: (4 players)
BB checks, MP1 checks, MP3 bets, MP3 calls, wroto calls, BB calls.

Turn: (10.25 BB) J:heart: (4 players)
BB checks, MP1 checks, MP3 bets....

I plan to fold to a 3-bet. Who thinks i'm crazy?

Actually, who thinks I should have smooth called the flop and bumped the turn (folding to a raise)?

Or just called down?

First...what's up with all the damn names

Second, I don't think you can just call this down...you have to attack a possible ace of spades, I like the flop raise

Yeah, you have to fold to a 3 bet on the turn clearly...but...well...this is the kind of play one makes when they are killing the table

You're again moving to take control of the hand which is good since it allows you to determine if you're beat

Hmm...there was no raise preflop, so I think you could eliminate AA along with AK with the ace of spades

Ace of spades is still possible, just gotta hope it's not AJ or a made flush obviously

MP3 could also have QJ of spades or Q-10 of spades or J-10 of spades, all of which are realistic possibilities, and your turn raise should reveal whether a made flush is there

Your opponent ain't gonna put you on a flush, since you raised and didn't cap...

Blah that was long, nice play I wouldn't have the stones for it

Like, "wroto"?
Vade
Yeah, is this a PT feature?

No, the converter allows you to change your name to whatever you want. Last time I was "BadMotherFucker" to go along with the pulp fiction avatar. Really, it just gets boring using hero every time.

Another question...how can I be good at analysis and horridly inconsistent playing online?

Of course I'm playing NL, maybe that's my problem?
Variance kicks my ass

I see all these hands, and I know what to do with them, but my success level is terrible in April (down 600 BB at NL!)

I dunno, it depends on what you think he would 3-bet the flop with. It's fairly obvious you don't have the flush (At least one you're confident in), because you didn't cap the flop. The problem I have with your turn raise is that he's obviously confident in whatever he has, so I'd have to think you're behind here. As previous analysis mentioned, we can likely eliminate AA, KK, AK because he limp-called as opposed to raising at some point. The problem is, having limp-called, depending on the range of hands you figure him for, he could be playing anything, from a set of deuces, to some weird 2-pair, to the dreaded made flush. Yeah, it's a ballsy play to raise the turn, but I'm not sure what you're attempting to accomplish with it (Free showdown perhaps?) unless you really think your TPTK is good.

And yeah, you have to fold to a 3-bet on the turn here.

He could have K icon_suit_diamond.gif Q icon_suit_spade.gif ....A straight flush draw....or two pair, set, or made flush.

Honestly, I like just calling down more and more....I just want it debated.

This is either call down or raise the turn and fold to a 3 bet.

If he's drawing, then the raise on the turn is a great play, and charges him for his draw. You can bet the river for value.

If he's got the flush, he 3 bets, and you lose 2BB, the same price as just calling him down.
Emptyeye
Yeah, I would think just calling down is the play I like.
akishore
man, you nailed it on the head at the end of your post.

the entire time, i was thinking...

"call the flop, raise a good turn."

aseem
akishore
actually, scratch that.

only a spade really kills your hand, so it's not quite "half the deck" (what sshe recommends for calling flop raising turn).

thinking about it again, you played it fine.

I probably would have checked the flop. You have 3 other people in the hand with you, usually TPTK isnt good in that situation. I would have folded to any bet. Maybe this is just scared poker, but meh, sometimes you just have to let 'er go.

yes that is scared poker. more often then not they're betting on a draw there

I agree 100% with what you said. But, how likely is it he's drawing? IMO, not very likely.

So calling down would be better?

Participating is good, though. You learned not to check TPTK.
