Most of the stuff is in Chinese so you can't read it but there is some cool stuff. A little quickie deep fry machine for little fish balls. I found a chilled coffee by looking for the beans on the label. Plenty of different beer to try !! Still no slurpie though. icon_cry.gif

When we are playing on the road, first thing I do is find the local 7-11....I love having a slurpee after a game.

Something about the slurpee turns me off. I just prefer regular soda. Cherry Coke gets me hard.

My two year old daughter loves slurpees (blue raspberry). Not only do I have to get one for her and me, but also her "stuffed animal" Grover. The people at the gas station look at me like I'm crazy for buying Grover a slurpee, but it's worth the extra dollar to avoid the argument.

Much like Norm MacDonald has a theory, that Germans love David Hasselhoff, I too have theory.

Canadians love slurpee's. All the Canadians who post here already know my theory 'cause I posted it in the Canadian er.. I mean the Hockey forum.

So, what exactly is a slurpee? Is it like a Slush Puppie?

Zach6668
Similar.

They have a bit of a different texture.

A slush puppy feels more like ice chips, while a slurpee is a lot more smooth.

It's been awhile, but if I remember correctly... a slurpee tends to go down all at once, whereas a Slush Puppie, you drink the flavor away and are left with ice.

And I love brain-freezes.
LadyGrey
To be honest I don't dig these frozen drinks. I do enjoy this scene from Heathers though:

Stylishly dressed-to-massacre, VERONICA reaches out to a bag
of Corn Nuts as J.D.'s off-screen voice disarms her.

J.D. (O.S.)
You going to pull a Big Gulp with that?

VERONICA
No, but if you're nice I'll let
you buy me a Slurpee. You know
your 7-11speak pretty well.

J.D.
I've been moved around all my life;
Dallas, Baton Rouge, Vegas, Sherwood
Ohio, there's always a 7-11. Any
town, any time, I can pop a Ham and
Cheese in the microwave and feast on
a Big Wheel. Keeps me sane.

VERONICA
Really? That thing in the caf
today was pretty severe.

J.D.
The extreme always makes an impression,
but you're right, it was severe. Did
you say a Cherry or Coke Slurpee?

VERONICA
I didn't. Cherry.

VERONICA smiles at her Coolness. J.D. returns the smile.

Awesome film.

I believe Slush Puppies are made by adding flavoured syrup to ice chips while with a Slurpee the flavour is in the ice and not the syrup.

Yea, to make a Slush Puppie, you squirt the flavor into a cup (one squirt, yeah right), then pour the ice on top.

Slurpees are already mixed.

No, you can see in the picture I posted the slush puppie is mixed in a machine, not in the cup. I expect you add syrup to the machine and then crushed ice, it's mixed in the machine but the ice is not infused with the flavour, which is why it goes all gross and plain towards the bottom.

Slurpees I expect are made from frozen flavoured ice so that the flavour never seperates from the ice. I may be wrong on this though, as I have never consumed a slurpee.
eYank
well my favorite is usually a mix of whatever they have since the 7-11's near me change their selection all the time but I usually go with coke/cherry/blue raspberry/green apple(rare)

QUOTE
Slurpees are mostly water ice and are heavily infused with air; there is less food energy in a Slurpee than in the same volume of a soda of the same name.

I think thats the main difference is that slurpees are "carbonated"
Also Slurpees are 7-11's trademark

Ah, I see. Well, back in the day, you had to mix your own. They had a row of syrup bottles along the top of the machine and you were supposed to do 1 squirt for smalls and 2 for mediums or something like that. I always filled the cup about a quarter of the way full of syrup.

Oh that's old school. I vaguely remember seeing self-service Slush Puppie machines when I was small and being too shy to use them.

I remember going to the skating rink when I was younger and they had the machines @ the concession stand and the cashier person would use the squirter things and make it for u but ou are right, all the flavor would be sucked up and you would be left with just ice

We used to have these in our elementary school cafeteria. A couple people would get only syrup. Slurpee machines would never fly at school in today's PC-world-of-fat-kids-that-cant-make-their-own-decisions. I miss that machine, I think it was taken out before I even left the school.

Never tried the strawberry, but I love the pineapple. They call it pina colada though, I think. A Pineapple Juilius and some rum (or vodka) and I might have to rethink my frozen drink rule.
