After reading DN's blog earlier in the week, I thought it would be a good idea to try a few other games and I've really enjoyed myself. I've always played NLHE up until now, like many of us, that was the game you saw most of on TV and the most popular on every site.
But I decided to try a bit of Razz, and it's great. Played my first ever Razz Sit and Go last night and I only went and won it! I really felt like I was enjoying the game, playing more hands and having some fun away from the grind of HE. Because I'm new to the game I went in without any fear and just got on with it, thanks DN, I'm going to try a few other games now and see how I get on.

Yeah, thats one advantage of playing diff games, you can play every hand and thing you are using optimal strategy.
Coz apparently your not supposed to chase gut shot straight draws in 7 card stud. Who knew.

Great to hear! I also love playing different games, especially HORSE. Unfortunately not too many people play it. I guess it's easier for me since I prefer limit Hold'em, so the jump ain't that big to the other limit games. I must agree with you thought that Razz is a fun game, but I think I enjoy Stud 8 or Better more now, you get both Razz and Stud in one package

I think this is part of the trouble, I'm sure there are plenty of poker players out there who'd be prepared to try some new games, it's just that we're all spread across many different sites so it's difficult to generate enough people to play. I have to admit FTP are doing a pretty good job, they've made a concerted effort to have lots of different games available, I'll definitely have a look at Stud 8/OB too...

But I decided to try a bit of Razz, and it sucks. Played my first ever Razz Sit and Go last night and I only went out first! I really felt like killing myself, playing more hands and feeling like a god damn fish. Because I'm new to the game I went in with tons of fear and just plain sucked, **** you DN, I'm going back to hold em'

I donīt know how it is in american television, but in germany they only show holdem.
And you have no idea how hard it is to convince my homegame to play some other stuff, too...
Last week I finally was able to play omaha with them. Time will show if I will be able to broaden their horizon for some more poker variations

It's the same. The only non-hold'em episode of poker we got last year was the PLO tournament at the 2006 WSOP. It's quite sad.

At my home games, I frequently hear...."Omaha is gay."
Then we just keep play Hold Em. Rarely we play Razz, and Omaha/8.

I was in Vegas last week and played mostly mixed games like O8, 2-7, badugi, Stud 8, Razz, and Chinese poker(evil). Playing these games can be way more fun than long sessions of nlhe and I'd suggest if you start feeling bored playing poker that you learn these games as a way of mixing things up. After you get drawn out on a few times in razz you'll be more than happy to get back to some good ol HE.
