It has been a wild night in the AHL with wild allegations hanging over the head of Mustangs owner and GM Serge...We were able to reach Serge in his Pickering estate and he was fuming. Serge has been accused of cheating by playing over the salary cap most of the year. Serge has this statement he made shortly after his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs won a huge game.
"These allegations have been brought by the jealous owner of the Canadian Gothic Dale. I strongly deny these vicious attacks against my personal character and the integrity of my team. The owner in question is new to our league and does not understand the rules. With the use of the reserve list at no time was I over the salary cap. However even if i was it was not on purpose and should of been mentioned earlier. Until there is actual evidence I will not comment further. I will also be launching a civil lawsuit on the owner of the Canadian Gothic for defaming my character not only in our league but all across North America."
Serge was visibly upset on a night where his favourite player Kyle Wellwood led his team to a big win. There has been very bad blood between these two owners all year. Even though the Gothic are a new expansion team, they have clashed all year with the Mustangs off the ice. On the ice the Mustangs totally dominated the Gothic as the Gothic finished a dysmal last place in the division. Due to the fact of the lateness of the allegations the commissioner and other owners were not available for comment.
