Just going over the 500 goal scorers in NHL history...
There are currently 39 members of this club. Interestingly 8 of them have not scored 50 goals in one year...Two of them being Gordie Howe and Mats Sundin..
Ron Francis scored 500 goals in his career , however never scored more than 32 ever.
Mike Bossy retired at the now young age of 30..Scoring 573 goals in only 752 games.

Hmm, and amazingly a lot of those guys were top draft picks! Nearly all of them were drafted inside the top 30, how amazingly lucky for those teams, because normally draft picks are crapshoots!

Mike Bossy's number are just sick...Those of you who are too young to have watched him you missed out..
He score at least 50 goals every year he played except the last where he scored 38 in 63 games
Scored 60 on 5 occasions...Amazing goal scorer

Why did Anderson retire at 498? That would drive me nuts the rest of my life.
I had no idea Gartner had so many goals, that's crazy, and is Dino in the hall yet?

Dino is still not in the Hall. In my opinion an absolute shame.
Here is some other interesting tidbits. There are 39 500 goal scorers which has been stated above. Out of those 39
2 Americans: Mullen and Modano
2 Fins: Selanne and Kurri
1 Slovak: Bondra
1 Czech: Jagr
1 Swede: Sundin
All the other 32 players are all Canadian.

OK OK I'll tell my somewhat cute Mike Bossy story, somewhat related to his 500 goals.
Last year during the WJHC in Vancouver my son's PeeWee(11-12 yrs old) were invited to skate on the ice at GM Place with Mike Bossy in the intermissions of the Bronze Medal game between USA and Finland. Not coincidentally I happened to be a GM dealer at the time. Any way on the way to the game I told my son Mike Bossy was going on the ice with them, he "had heard of him" and we stopped at a sports memorabilia store to pick up a card for Mike to sign. As we were driving my son was reading his stats on the back of the card and announced that there had to be a mistake as he had 241 goals in his first 4 years in the league. How times have changed! LOL
Shame he left so early.

(The following is a representation of an actual conversation between AO and myself)
Me: Ovi, you can't stay for that party, you have to be in camp.
AO: Forget camp, Toronto is fun. I go later.

Peter Stastny defected from Czechoslovakia and did play for team Canada.
I'm not sure, but I believe Paul holds a dual Canada/USA citizenship.

Reguarding Stan the Man
Recorded 1000th NHL point on October 19, 1989 with a goal against the Chicago Blackhawks, and was the second European-born player, and first trained in Europe, in NHL history to do so. Stan Mikita, the first European-born player to score 1000 points, was born in Czechoslovakia, but raised in Canada.
