I usually play LO 8/b, but we started a 1-2 PLO game last week at a card club I frequent.

Here's the hand in question.

Hero has A icon_suit_heart.gif K icon_suit_heart.gif J icon_suit_diamond.gif 6 icon_suit_heart.gif

One player limps, Hero limps from EP, 7 to the flop.

Flop: 8 icon_suit_heart.gif 4 icon_suit_heart.gif 3 icon_suit_heart.gif

Early limper pots it for $14.

Hero calls.

5 folds.

Turn: 3 icon_suit_spade.gif

Limper bets $25, hero calls

River: 2 icon_suit_club.gif

Limper checks, Hero bets $40

My thought was that the only thing he would pot it with on the flop was a set, so I tried to convince him I didnt have the flush.

Fairly new to PLO high only, but frequently play LO8B, comments on all streets appreciated.

you know in LO8 when you have JJQK on a 29J board? do you check? no, you make a wrap pay for the turn and you charge full admission for the back door lows.

same thing here. you have the current nuts but you smooth calling is giving too good a price (w/ implied odds) to the players behind you, and your hand is not the immortal nuts. (just like in O8, assume in a multi-way pot that someone has the draw that beats you).

how i play it: fold preflop or call preflop, but most likely fold (in O8 it's like having K732)

flop: this is actually one of the times i probably put in a small raise. one, it isolates the early player (lets you control the pot on later streets) and helps you better define his hand. and then you'll have a pretty good idea of where everyone else behind you stands.

i think everything else in the hand is fine depending on people's tastes (PLO styles are like snowflakes).

also, understand that PLO is a game of stacks, and thus, they are imperative to the analysis.

I fold preflop.

Since we also have K of hearts , at most he can have Q high flush , top set or 6 5 of hearts maybe. Either way we are not getting paid full time.

I like to repot. . Once we raise he will know he is behind.

I don't have any logical explanation behind this but in PLO people are more willing to call pots rather than raises. Maybe they feel challenged and get mad or they think a pot or repot is always a bluff i don't know.

I don't mind how you played this, but you really aren't going to make much from lower flushes anyway. I think repotting the flop is better.

6 5 of hearts maybe.

We have the 6h.

He called the bet on the river so I think my plan worked sort of...? Idk, I thought if i repotted it he would have known I had the flush, I think my play confused him a little.... w/e
