I saw Zodiac last night and I really liked it. I recommend it to anyone who is interested in seeing it. It's just incredibly gripping and even though it's nearly three hours long, the time just flies by. It's amazing how a film that consists mostly of reading through files and detectives talking to each other can be so entertaining for so long. Though it has some pretty scary and horrific scenes, it is not really a horror movie. It is more about the reaction to the Zodiac killer, trying to figure out who he was, and the mindset of those trying to track him down. The real essence of the film is the psychology and motivation for those trying to figure out who he was.

It is directed by David Fincher, who directed Fight Club, Seven, and the Game, all of which are pretty great movies. It's based on a book, but it's really about the making of the book.

Anyway, what’d you guys think?

I was totally stoked to go see it yesterday, but then the night before I found out it was 2hrs 40 minutes long and I didn't have time to go see it. I guess if I never found out I would have, but I'll probably watch a matinee during the week. I like almost any robert downey jr movie and jake gyllenhall movies too. I try not to have expectations for movies before I see 'em but I'm expecting that I'll like it.

I'll never forgive the zodiak killer for keeping the opening box office reciepts of Saturday Night Fever artificially low in the New York market.

Or was it some other serial killer? I forget.

Great movie, I enjoyed it a lot. Spoiler tho kinda?

What was the deal with the crew cut thing? One guy described the man as having the crew cut...and well you saw the end.

Saw it on Tuesday, and I really enjoyed it. Like LLY said, it's amazing that a movie about case files and reporters could hold your attention for 3 hours, but it really does without even trying.

The 3 leads (Gyllenhall, Downey and Ruffalo) are each outstanding in their roles, and the writing/directing are top-notch.

You can think of this movie as kind of a crime drama answer to All the President's Men, so to speak. The movie is more about the events surrounding the Zodiac killings than the actual killings themselves (which are really a secondary part of the story).

Highly recommended.
