So if Tito comes back to the UFC who should he fight? Franklin would have been a good choice but that ship has sailed. Winner of Jardine/Silva or Sozyinski/Vera maybe? Cant see him being anything other than a gatekeeper at this point.

Rashad rematch isn't terrible. Jardine/Silva winner seems to be a fairer fight.

Josh Barnett fails pre fight test, out of Fedor fight, apparently Fedor will get to chose between Vitor or Lashley (who doesn't seem too interested)... wtg Barnett and RIP Affliction.

Bisping wins by being a pussy if it happens. Using kicks to stay away and try landing shots here and there is the way he wins fights... when he said he had no intention of stopping Leben he confirmed himself as my least favorite fighter ever.

- It looks as if Bobby Lashley is still not accepting the fight with Fedor Emelianenko. Last we heard, Lashley was offered $500,000 to take the fight on short notice. The show is August 1st.

DAMN!!!!!! That is a lot of $$$$$$.

Vitor signed on for $500,000 I think, chuh chingg. They want Rogers but he wants $800,000. mbn demanding an extra $300,000 for a fight......

why don't they just put in Gegard Mousasi in to fight him. He walks around about 225-230 and is in the Super Hulk tourney put on by Dream. He says size doesn't matter and wants to prove it. Don't see a better way then dropping his fight with Babalu and moving into the Main Event.

I mean Vitor is supposedly going down to 185. This makes NO sense to me. Just another easy win for Fedor.
grocery_mony
Does Rogers really think he will have another shot at a 500k payday? Vitor used to fight at 205 so I think he will come in at 200-210 range. i wonder if Dana will still be high on signing Vitor after this? Hope Barnett is blackballed for life now.

Really interesting. With this, UFC blocking a Cro Cop fight, and Lesnar, I think Fedor going to the UFC has never been more likely. Sucks for all these fighters counting on a pay day, hopefully Strikeforce can put some on the August card as Riggs and Overeem backed out.

Man, Barnett is a huge douche. It looks like his chances of fighting in North America are pretty much done. Off to Japan he goes.

It's so sad because that was such an awesome card.

Wow that was quick. Hopefully the UFC can cut a deal with Fedor. There is an oppurtunity for some million plus buy events with him. Randy/Fedor(just wish that was a 5 rounder, maybe the UFC can slap some kind of interim belt on Fedor to make it so) if he can beat Nog then the winner of that vs Lesnar. Hopefully Strikeforce can pick up the slack as it has been proven that competition is good for the fans.

Weird that it took so long to announce the Tito deal. He could have fought Franklin at 103 main. sigh

Dana hinted on a radio show... when asked about the Hendo/Franklin II fight he said... 'Yeah, my job is to put on fights the fans want to see... and uh... well you'll just have to stay tuned on that one, that's all I've got right now.'

Maybe Tito vs. Franklin could happen after all?

UFC 110
Feb 06, 2010
105 is rumored to be free and the Ultimate Finnale will be free but still thats alot of ppv's in less than 3 months. Hopefully they get a deal in place with ESPN to take the cards that are on the weaker side(but a step up from Fight Nights) and put them on cable. If they get Tito back and add a handful of Affliction's talent there should be enough cards to get 10-12 ppvs in a year plus 4 Spike shows and maybe a half dozen ESPN cards. Lesnar/Fedor at 108 or 110 please!
jdrury12
I think they have enough talent to get all these shows off anyway. All their talent wants to fight more, and could fill in a few other cards with what they have. If I'm not mistaken, they did two PPV's in January, are doing two in August, and two UFC numbered events in November although one will be on Spike. While I'd like them to pick up some of the Affliction talent, I only think they add a few guys, like Vitor and maybe a heavyweight or two like Buentello sort of guys. Would love to see Hieron get picked up as well.
bdc30
I get the fact that they have the talent to host all these shows, but will people pay $60 a shot for them, especially when some of them only have 7 days between them?

Personally, I see my atdhe.net usage going up, as opposed to my cable bill.
Ron_Mexico
I think fights are what sell cards, not fighters. Well, some fighters sell cards.

I guess what I'm saying is, I like Rich Franklin, I like Dan Henderson, I like about 20 other fighters, but I don't see myself plunking down $60 for a Rich Franklin fight.
I like this card coming up. Silva, Griffin, Florian, BJ Penn. I think that card could've used one more marquee fight on it. I remember looking up the card and not being overly impressed. I like Sodallah, but he's not a main card fighter yet. He won TUF and hasn't fought in what, two years? I hope he succeeds because I think he's an awesome personality, but still.

I am a little confused. Is Zuffa resurecting Pride? Sounds good in theory but if the UFC and Pride are owned by the same company I dont see how the consumer is gonna win.

No, I haven't heard anything about it. Originally they wanted to keep PRIDE going but thought it was corrupt and wanted to start it over in a few years and bring the UFC to Japan, which I would guess happens sometime 2011ish

I really hope the UFC closes the deal with Fedor. A Lesnar/Fedor match would be epic at least for an exposure standpoint(I think it would be a very good fight too). Fedor's management seems really out to lunch so I am not holding my breathe. If the reports of Fedor's camp turning down a 6 fight 30 million dollar deal where the UFC concedes on letting him fight sambo and cuts in M1 on ppv profits from the Lesnar/Fedor match you cant blame the UFC one bit for not getting the deal done.

if the UFC offered all of that, which I doubt since Lesner only made 2.2 million (from what I'm hearing) from UFC 100, which was a record PPV event, then Fedor doesn't want to fight the best and it wilol tarnish his legacy, more than losses in the UFC will. Fedor isn't the draw that Lesner is. Only the hardcore fans know Fedor. That average douche wouldn't recognize Fedor if he walked into a room with a shirt that read "Hi, I'm Fedor", so take that into consideration.

Also, I think it should be a shorter deal, 4 fights with the championship clause. I think Fedor wants to keep his options open and not be so long term.

Belfort vs Franklin now at 103. Should be good although I would have perfered Tito/Franklin. Fight will be at 205
Ron_Mexico
useless fight for Belfort if he's going for 185 belt

Guess Ortiz wasn't going to be ready
grocery_mony
I guess the fight is at 195 now. Even though its not a fight with any title implications I think it is still a good fight. Franklin is a very good test and always shows up so it will be intresting to see where Belfort is at. A good fight is still a good fight no matter where the participants are at in the title picture. I dont think to many people would be dissapointed to see a Wandy/Liddell rematch even thought both those guys are far from contention. Good to see Hendo does get the next title shot also.
jdrury12
Fedor deal seems super unlikely now, all over co promoting. It's insane that M1 expects this. Just awful business IMO. And damnit, 195 pound title seems fitter than ever Vitor vs. Franklin... I know it's never going to happen but Rashad has had 185 all over him from day 1 he could be there, Wand, Hendo, idk, just especially if they sign ABC deal more cards more titles, would just like to see it.

Yea I dont blame the UFC for not caving on co-promotion. Its to bad Fedor is aligned with these guys so close. I think Affliction proved that is near impossible to start a new organization from scratch that has top notch cards and makes money. So more second rate opponents for Fedor on cards that dont get exposure over here

I like the idea of maybe a 225 division but 195 is to close to WW and LHW imo. A 225lb division could have the smaller hw and some of the bigger LHW. A 195lb division would spread the 185 and 205 divisions a little to thin.

Read a thread on Junkie about Wandy's next opponent. He states that his next opponent and the weight it is at will excite people. Any guesses here?

I could see a rematch with Chuck at like 215 or 220 so Wandy can add some bulk and neither will have to cut. Bisping at 195?

A wild rumour has been passed across the MMABay news desk today that we are unable to confirm, with fellow Brazilian’s, Wanderlei Silva and Thiago Alves squaring off at UFC 104 on October 24th in Los Angeles.

According to an interview conducted by MMATKO.com, Alves claimed he would be moving up in weight to the 185 pound division after the five round clinic put on him by welterweight champion, Georges St. Pierre.

The American Top Team trained star then allegedly said:

“They gave me a list of names, and I think Wanderlei would be the best match for the fans and for myself, Wanderlei is a striker so it should be a fun fight.”

This could answer the burning question from last week as to the opponent Wanderlei was excited about facing, adding it was someone we wouldn’t believe could fight him. With Alves being such a big welterweight, the move certainly would seem to make sense, meaning he would have to cut less weight.

Stay tuned to MMABay for the latest on this story.

Fedor to Strikeforce. Cant see him making as much money there as he could in the UFC. Big move for Strikeforce, lets hope they dont bankrupt themselves. Obviously would have perfered a UFC deal but at least he isnt going to Japan to fight freakshow cans. Strikeforce is better positioned than Affliction and deffinatly has better management than both Affliction and EXC so I think it can work. But if they try to jump into the PPV market right away they could be finished. It will be good to see a few Fedor fights on cable or maybe even CBS.

No suprise there. Yea I dont see how he can make as much money with strikeforce. UFC 101 probally netted the UFC around 40 mill in ppv revenues for their cut. Showtime or even CBS couldnt be paying more than a few mill to Strikeforce per event. So with Dana conceding the point on Sambo you have to wonder why is he not with the UFC. Brett Rogers or Brock Lesnar hmmm.

Fedor has never struck me as someone who is concerned about money. He has struck me as someone who is very loyal to those around him. Unfortunately for us, that means his crack ass manager. The guy is a power monger who is using Fedor as a pawn. I know Fedor has the power to stand up to him and get a UFC contract done, but it just seems to me that Fedor really just doesn't care to get involved in anything to do with the negotiations.

I hope Kenny shocks the world and submits BJ. Would it be a hail mary to call it right now? 4th round submission by RNC of course.

On paper it looks like the perfect opponent style wise foe AS. A stand up guy who will engage and lacks 1 punck ko power. But I too think a play on Forrest is the only bet here. Not only is Forrest a LHW but he is a big LHW as compared to Irvin who was on the smaller side. I think Forrest gameplans well and think he has a good shot at a decision in a 3 rounder. Anderson too doesnt have 1 punch power and relys on accumualation to dispatch his opponents. If Forrest can avoid the prolonged exchanges and stay on the outside working his leg kicks and maybe even a couple takedowns he should be ok.

edit: Performify is also on Griffin.

Watched the countdown show tonight. Glad BJ appears to have moved on from greasegate(at least if they didnt edit that out). I think bringing in Marinovich's dad as a conditioning coach is hillarious. would love to see Kenny win but I think he is outclassed here. My only action is on Forrest though if I had it to do over again I would have put some on BJ when he was down in the -200 range. Also looking forward to Amir's fight. His fights in TUF were all exciting and he finished everyone of them. I know some people are bitching about Amir's fight being on the main card over the Sakara/Leites fight but after Leites' performance against AS I could care a less to see him right away. Got the bad news today that I might miss the card due to work and am a little pissed. I hope that changes between now and then if not I guess I got some downloading to do on Sunday

Couture was speculating that Amir was using a home bathroom scale to use during his cut down which is lol. You think he would want to be as accurate as possible going into a fight. The thing is he didnt look ripped at all in the weigh in. be curious to see how he makes out tonight.

I like Neer over Pellegrino Steve.

Didn't bet the Neer fight, but Pellegrino is pretty tough and scrappy, there might be some value at +190

Looking like I'm on BJ, Forrest, Almeida, and Hendicks.

I'd bet Neer all night long. I just don't see how he loses to Pellegrino. It should be an entertaining fight though.

I know everyone thinks it is Forrest's night, but I envision a fairly violent KO by Silva.

I couldn't bet BJ just because I want to see KFlo win by submission in the 4th.
