Looking forward to the WEC fights tonight.

Shields was supposed to fight Riggs but he pulled out in order to get a main event against Lawler June 6 in St. Louis (finally)... also Feijao/Babalu on the June 6 card.

Wow, not one comment about possibly the best pound for pound fighter in the world's fight last night. Awesome.

I thought Torres was pig headed. Win the fight, don't prove what a man you are. Take the guy down, submit him. Based on what the commentators said, the asian dude's ground game was shit, and Torres is a stud. I just don't get it. Good fight though. Either both guys had solid chins or empty hands.

I thought the Curren fight was good. That Benevides is young, but a stud.

Oh, I'm with you on GSP being number 1, at least right now. Lets see what Silva does in two weeks.

It wasn't a technically sound fight, but they did bang.

Leites wont give Silva any problems I am sure. If GSP can beat Alves I dont see any other fight at WW that is intriguing. Unless Fitch can get a rematch but thats probally 3 fights away for him. I am hoping Siva/GSP can happen for the year end or the superbowl weekend shows. If GSP/Penn got 1.4 million buys this one could aproach 2 million and send the UFC to a higher level of mainstream sports. As long as Dana can keep his mouth shut and not come off as some kind of wannabe gangster.
Ron_Mexico
Seems like a logical next fight for both, if they both win, and there are some eliminator fights that should happen at 185. Marquardt should have to fight Maia before they get their shot at Silva and you're right, St Pierre cleared out the WW division if he beats Alves
grocery_mony
If GSP/Penn 3 happens before GSP/Silva happens I will be pissed as much as I would love to see GSP vindicate the second fight.
steve7stud
I thought the WEC card was pretty good, not great.

Seemed like a lot of the fights were really scrappy. That's the only word that comes to mind.

Torres has great head movement. I think that's what impressed me the most. No clue why he kept it standing the whole time.

In the world? Probably not, but I think it will be interesting. One is a dick who you want to see get knocked out and the other is a cocky dick you want to see get knocked out. I actually like Shamrock. I also like Diaz, in the ring, because outside if it, he seems like a complete douche, but I like jujitsu guys, so he's interesting to watch. As I've mentioned before, I'm relatively new to MMA, 2 years I'd guess, and that Shamrock vs Baroni fight made me a Shamrock fan, because he told Baroni, in the ring during the fight that he was going to put him to sleep, and he did. Hilarious.

Are you sure? I've always wondered about Silva's ground game, yeah he's won plenty there, but at big odds I'm tempted with Leites...

I like Leites on the ground for sure. Silva was mounted by Lutter, and Leites has a much better BJJ game imo. The problem is, Leites works well off his back. He has to get the fight to the ground. Even if he pulls guard, he has to deflect Silva's blows. If he gets the fight to the ground often enough, he has a shot.

I mean, I'm sure I'll watch but... what does the fight prove? I view Shamrock as unlikeable, talented, but far from the best. Diaz is the tough shit talker who isn't afraid to hit you and be hit. Fun but... these guys are two weight classes apart. They will brawl and have a fight that makes people ooo and awww but just.... meh.

Got 3rd row tickets to the Lawler/Shields Babalu/Feijao and Baroni/Riggs card in St. Louis for... $100 each. God bless new markets.

He finished Lutter and Hendo on the ground if it comes to that which I dont think it will. I wanted to bet Silva -450 but my roll was small at the time then it got healthier and he is now -700 so I will stay away.

Well, in all fairness, I think that both of them are capable of beating Silva. Henderson was too confident imo. And Lutter cant keep with cardio to save his life. Having said that. Lutter "should" have been able to finish the fight. And I think that Henderson poses problems as well.

I think Silva is weakish on the ground. And it's only a matter of time before he gets submitted. Obv I could be wrong. And yes I know he has a bb from the Nog bro's. I also like Silva a lot. But I can see him being submitted in the not too distant future.

I agree. Especially with guys like Hendo, Leites, and Maia coming up, it'd be something special if he went another 4/5 fights without losing. I disagree about Hendo being too overconfident, I just think Anderson really does have special ground skills to tap him, although Dan clearly beat him in the first... it would be very interesting to see how Henderson would approach a rematch.

ok we agree on this -- having said that, what is an acceptable price on Leites? 3-1, 4-1, 5-1? I only have $$ on sportsbook.com, they have the lowest odds I've seen on Leites and I want to bet on him (3.25-1). Maybe I'll try the thread in GenPo and see if anyone gives a rats ass and try to get a better price

looking forward to UFC 100 big time

also am betting Nick Diaz +155 against Frank Shamrock, I'm stunned at those odds

entitled to your opinion -- have you seen the weigh-in pics? Diaz towers over Frank. I don't see what major advantage Frank has at his age -- catch-weight is 179 btw. Frank of 10 years ago sure, but I'll take the +155 on Diaz instead of -185 on Frank -- just for fun, want to split the juice (170 each way)? I'm a small timer these days, talking $20 or so... just putting in my $.02 GM

I like Frank via a brawl of a decision. Don't think either have KO power on the other, and if one does it's Frank, and Diaz has always beena sloppy puncher.
