Still true, although I think he has like five fights left on his contract, he just wants to fight every other month meaning he'd retire soon, when in reality the UFC will only let him fight like twice a year.

Is there an over/under on the main fight for Saturday? 2:30 in the first sound about right? If Rampage has learned to defend the low kick this fight ends abruptly for sure.

I don't think you're alone.
Funny enough, I was looking at the card and their seems to be more "name" fighters on the undercard. After a couple of stacked card, the pickens are getting slimmer, and I actually know a decent amount of fighters. I'm worried that with all the wrestlers on this card, it's gonna be a boring card. Hopefully I'm wrong. Not enough hardcore jujitsu guy for me tonight. Oh well, heading to the bar to watch.

* Alan Belcher vs. Alessio Sakara

Agree tonight and 99 seem lame, and 98 could turn out bad with Okami, Sherk, and Kos vs. no name. Looks like they're treading water until 100.
Apparently they are going to announce a new main event for 98 tonight, seems to make sense to move GSP/Alves up to 98 and switch Brock/Mir to 100.

I thought the stare down was corny and unnecessary. Went 4-5, Gonzaga surprised me when he couldn't finish from the top. So... Grove, Carwin, Brown, Hamil, who wins KO of the night?
Few early lines I found interesting:
Matt Hughes -215
Matt Serra +175
Yushin Okami -205
Dan Miller +165
Dan Henderson -365
Michael Bisping +285
GSP -250
Thiago Alves+190
Jumped on Hughes, Bisping, and Okami, the GSP interests me though.

Lost quite a chunk on Gonzaga. Won with Hammil and lost small with Day. Actually was driving home from the airport during the card after 5 nights in Vegas. I noticed they Wynn has the best MMA lines on the strip with alot tighter spreads between the fighters so check them out if your in town when a UFC fight is on.
Junkies front page says Rashad and Rampage to headline 98 now and Mir and Lesnar are going to the stacked 100 card.

For a card I wasn't excited for I must admit that the action was pretty good. Any time you have a ton of fights end in KO's it's never a bad thing. A few thoughts.
I like watching Matt Hamill fight and I think his ability to fight through disability is admirable, but must they give him mic-time after his fights? Can't we get his interpreter to tell us what he is saying? I don't mean this in a crass way...the poor guy has a disability, why make him and us suffer? That was a very sick head kick fwiw!
Good to see Grove get a KO win. His win over the late Evan Tanner was hardly impressive, but this was a good start for him on the road back in the UFC.
Yves Lavgine...LMAO! WTF was that? He steps in AND PULLS BROWN OFF OF SELL TO STOP THE FIGHT, then realizes...OH SCHIT Sell isn't hurt that bad and let's it continue? RU SERIOUS? Then later after Brown looks at him a solid 3-4 times with a "Dude...how bad do I have to pummel this guy before you stop it?" face, he mercifully stops the fight. Can you imagine if Sell somehow came back to win that fight after Lavigne didn't stop it AND didn't let Brown finish him when he was about to/already did? Where is HoosierAlum when we need him!!!!
Shane Carwin...wow! 1st off the dude has a granite chin and was clearly rocked by Gonzaga early. Then that right cross he KO'd Gonzaga with was just scary. Mostly because it was such a short punch. Rogan nailed it perfectly...that is just wicked power when u can drop a guy while barely loading up.
Rampage/Jardine was waaaay closer than I thought it would be, but was a pretty good fight. I can't wait for the Rampage/Evans fight. The postfight stare-down was awesome imo. Should be great "black on black crime" as Rampage eloquent as always put it.

I'm not a fan of Vera either really. He's never really impressed me at all, especially in the lhw division. I think that was by far his best fight though in the last two years or so. Probably since the Mir fight, although Mir was sooooo out of shape for that fight.

I just started getting into this. Highly addicted. My girlfriends brother paid for a channel that focuses mainly on MMA. Been watching UFC 4-8. I have a huge mancrush on Marco Ruas. Did he become a big as legend as it appears he should?
Watched re-run of 96. Did not understand the referee in the Sell's match but was quite entertaining. The kick from the deaf guy was awesome, his interview could be a bit cringy but I like how he speaks for himself even if I didn't follow all of it.
Carwins short punch was crazy, if Gonzaga kept swinging after that punch that had Carwin reeling it could have been a different fight.
The standoff after the rampage fight felt a bit cheesy but Im yet to grasp UFC fully.

I'm gonna jump around a bit here.
Vera is an interesting fighter. I think he can hold his own with anyone in the division. But I don't think he has the heart of a champion. They have been throwing really easy fights at him lately. So a person can look good when that happens. I think he has talent and plenty of tools. But he never really goes for it anymore. Meh, I could be wrong, just how I see things.
Matt Brown showed a ton of class in his fight. I generally like Yves Levigne a lot because he never stops fights too early. But what he did was just as bad. To take away a fighters momentum like that, even if it was for a split second is just wrong.
Rampage looked "ok" in his fight. But honestly he needs to learn how to check leg kicks. Very surprising to me. Jardine looked like Jardine, lol. Almost a characture. Perhaps one day he will learn a better technique. Jardine actually seems like a very nice guy.
Carwin hits really hard. I think his next match will be against Kongo. Just speculation on my part.
Grove looked so skinny in this fight for some reason.

I agree. Dana seems high on Congo even though he lost to the Texas Crazy Horse. He has had a couple of big stoppages since though.
I loved the Carwin post fight interview.
Interviewer asks So did he hurt you with that punch? then Carwin "Let me tell you this, this is my first broken nose, he hits hard"

I don't think he KOs him either, but I'm staying away. Franklin staying away and not engaging too terribly much is the way this fight ends more times than not in my opinion. Or he could frustrate Wandy and catch him, but I planned on making a Franklin bet if it came out even but now will stay away.
