The Hendo/Franklin fight is at 205. The fight makes little sence in the big picture as Hendo is going back to 185 regardless. If Rich wins it sounds more and more like he still will not drop to 185 for TUF ( as he has made comments lately that he has no intrest in TUF 9). Then there was a story on UFC.COM that Bisbing wants Hendo for TUF so I think Hendo is on TUF 9 regardless of the outcome.
The winner will be the coach. They have taped the first two episodes of the show with both the coaches on hand.

Rich sounds real cold to the idea. he came out last week and said he didnt have any intrest in it but would do it if the UFC insisted. He complained about the pay for the show and having to be in Vegas for the duration.

Yea I think a Shogun/Lidell fight would be good. Then maybe a rematch with Rampage. He could be gone from the UFC if he loses and Dana reopens his contract.

I just think GSP is to much for BJ. Bigger, stronger and probally the best conditioned athlete in the game today. I think GSP has the edge on there feet but if it goes to the ground he can control from the top and gnp BJ. I cant see how BJ gets GSP in a dominant position on the ground. Of course GSP can get caught on there feet and maybe a small chance he slips up on the ground giving BJ an opening for a submission but I think -185 is very attractive.
Seriously? I would find a hard time putting him in the top 10. Not the top 10 best MMA fighers..top 10 conditioned athletes.

any thoughts on Fedor's next fight 01/24? Opening line vs Andrei Arlovski was:
Fedor -400
Arlovski +300
Recently my book went to Fedor -325, so I bet it even though I HATE laying juice -- I just think its a perfect storm & Arlovski has little chance, especially with his glass chin. I want so badly for Fedor to fight in the UFC, but doubt it will ever happen...

Freddy Roach has been praising the hell out of AA. Although Arlovski has said that he is done with MMA and switching to boxing after this fight, so you can take that for what it's worth... I'll take it as he may not be 100% ready to deal with Fedor.

The UFC are set to sign one of the hottest free agents in MMA in KJ Noons, the former EliteXC lightweight champion, MMABay can EXCLUSIVELY reveal.
Noons was stripped of the title last year after refusing to defend it in a rematch against former UFC fighter, Nick Diaz. His contract expired last week, making him one of the most wanted free agents on the MMA scene.
Rumour has it that the former pro-boxer could debut at UFC Fight Night 18 against Melvin Guillard. With Noons one of the best strikers in the lightweight division, he could very well make a massive impact in an already stacked division.
That would be an awesome fight.

I'm not so high on Le. He's beaten some small names and I don't think high of Frank Shamrock in a stand up war, although he as well as Lawler could present a lot of fun fights in the UFC.

Hey, it finally happened. I killed a thread.
The preview show was solid. I like BJ, but all the shit he's talking has put me squarely in the GSP camp. I root for GSP whenever he fights, but have always rooted for BJ as well. Now, this will make me think about rooting for Florian in BJ loses and defends at 155 or Alves if he wins and defends at 170.
Who knows, maybe he's just selling tickets, but it was some demeaning stuff, personal stuff, calling GSP a quitter, etc. He abused Sherk before their fight as well. Seems like he's long on talent, short on class, at times.

Yea remeber before the Sherk fight he was getting pretty nasty even bringing up the steroids a few times but after the fight he said it was all to sell the fight. I dont know what he can draw upon to call GSP a quitter? I like BJ but I am firmly behind GSP in this one and think he is gonna dominate this time.

He's just trying to sell the fight. He's always done this before his fights and it creates some extra drama for the fight. I don't think this match-up needs much buildup, but it never hurts. Anybody that has ever met BJ has always had nothing but good things to say about him.

It's probably from his fight with Hughes where he tapped to an armbar with 1 second left in the round and the other is from when he tapped to strikes against Serra. I do have to question someone's heart a bit when they tapout from strikes.

As far as the fights, not a solid card.
I thought Franklin won, but it certainly could've gone either way. I just thought Henderson did nothing but takedowns, and no damage while on top. Franklin was the aggressor the whole fights
Palhares needs a better gas tank. I can't believe he almost got submitted.
The Coleman/Rua fight was an embarrassment. Both of those guys were gassed halfway through the 1st round. Act like a professional, train cardio for christ's sake. I thought it was a good stoppage. Coleman was all but out and not defending himself.
Lytle/Davis - meh, Davis deserved the win.
I can't even remember the 5th fight and it was less than an hour ago. Weak.
Oh yeah, Kang. I thought Kang was looking solid, but to get caught in an arm in guillotine and tap that quick. Wow.
spoiler tags are gay at this point. Don't come in to this thread if you don't want the results, but I'll play nice.

I thought Henderson clearly had the first round. I would've given him the second because of the take downs but obviously Rich took the third. Having the person lose the fight that clearly won the last round often skews things in the mind of the audience.

I've gone to a sports bar to watch two different events, including todays, and I think I'll be back at today's sports bar on January 31st. They have a shit ton of flat screens all on HD. So, no charge, and cute girls bringing me reasonably priced beers all night, and food if I want it. Hopefully, the atmosphere at midnight will be good.

Crappy card overall. It wasn't worth the money if you paid for it, that's for sure.
Only fight I was even interested in was Denis Kang's debut and I'm just shocked that he lost. I don't know what it is with him and having mental lapses that cost him the fight. He has the potential to be one of the top fighters at 185. He has all the tools and something just happens in his fights where he makes the most basic mistake and he loses. I'm still a fan of his, but it sucks watching him lose that way. He was completely dominating Belcher standing and on the ground, the only thing Belcher did well was defend on the ground, but he had zero offense. I'm still trying to figure out how Kang lost, he basically gave the fight away. He's a legit Black Belt in BJJ but managed to get caught by a purple belt, just makes no sense really.
