How was Junie not kicked off the show? He was given wayyyy too many chances then he deserved. I hope he never makes it in the UFC again. I'm sure he will though because that bozo from last season that busted up the limo got to fight again. Have not seen him in a long time though.
He wasn't kicked off because Dana wanted to see him get beat up...plain and simple. Since he gave him that 2nd chance after the 1st drinking incident and the hilarious cage rage...he knew that Junie wanted to punk his way out. So instead Dana did the better thing imo...and let Efrain beat his ass!!
QUOTE (outsider13 @ Thursday, December 4th, 2008, 1:55 PM)

Yeah, last night was pretty good. Bader's only chance is to keep the fight standing and his standup isn't that great. Vinny's BJJ is just ridiculous. It seems he is close to a sub after only a few seconds of the fight being on the ground. Krystoff would have won though had he kept some distance. He was effective doing what he was doing. I think Bader is going to lose in a semi boring fight.
Junie was ridiculous. I would have sent the little shit home. God what a waste of life he is. Nice to see Efrain "beat him off" though. Felipe is going to win though. I think he's just better all around than Efrain. This fight will be great though.
I don't think any Vinny fight will be boring because he is always moments away from submitting people. Unlike a Koscheck for example, who only wants to dry hump ya for 3 rounds, Vinny is looking to finish you on the ground and his jits is insane. Bader may be more like a Koscheck type, but if this fight hits the ground I doubt it will be boring. I think Krystoff was fighting a good fight and did try and keep it standing, but all it takes was getting taken down one last time and it was gg.
I agree that Efrain and Felipe will be awesome, but Felipe is just too slick for Efrain. Just glad Efrain got to shut up that little biatch Junie.

- What happened if Junie won that fight? Dana would be an idiot, most of us would be upset he got the shot. He should have been kicked off and never heard from again.
-I don't agree that the Vinnie will be boring fight. It's like a Hazelett fight, the UFC wanted him on the undercard, which baffles me

He's gotten better now, but many of his earlier fights were just textbook lay and pray. You can't fault him really, he was a great wrestler and not well rounded otherwise. But I do give him credit for getting better and being more exciting, sometimes.

Yeah, agreed. I mean, every time he fights I'm not exactly on the edge of my seat screaming at the tv, but you at least have to give him credit for progressing at AKA into someone who is a high level welterweight.

I couldn't even look @ the armbar. When he didn't tap and then it got twisted and pulled out further, I could see the snap coming...just had to avert my eyes for a moment. There were some damn good finishes though; it was especially good for a free card. Koschek ruined that guy..

Yeah I couldn't watch it either when they replayed the arm bar. The guy should have tapped, but those were some lame post-fight antics by Cantwell. First he makes the snapping something thing with his hands and then after in the interview he's like he's been waiting to break somebody's arm for a long time. That's just a prick thing to say and it's hard to cheer for somebody like that.
But yeah please nobody post those gifs on here, don't think I got the stomach to see them, especially Corey Hill's broken leg.

I did see that one last night. They were both really bad, but the Vargas one was just disgusting imo.
As for Hill, I think I heard he's out for 12-18 months. It looks pretty career ending, considering his frame. He needs to beef up if he decides to come back.

It only took 41-seconds for Bobby Lashley to win his MMA debut fight against Joshua Franklin last night at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida. Lashley scored a takedown and then opened up the forehead of Franklin with punches, which caused the fight to be stopped. Franklin was also making his MMA debut in this fight.

Not sure this is entirely accurate, but the BJ/GSP fight has opened betting odds at -245 GSP and BJ Penn at +175. The line seems pretty off and I think it'll get pretty close to even come fight night with a lot of late money on BJ. I think +175 on BJ is huge value right now.

Mixed martial arts fighter, wife found dead
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Associated Press
LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. -- A mixed martial arts fighter and his wife were found shot to death in a Laguna Niguel condominium in what authorities said was an apparent murder-suicide.
The bodies of Justin Levens and his wife, Sarah McLean-Levens, were found Wednesday afternoon, Orange County sheriff's officials said. The 28-year-old Levens competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship and other organizations.
Sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said the couple was found by the woman's mother, who called 911.
Lt. Mike Jansen says further information would be released Thursday.

I'll talk about all of the fights a bit later in the week.
One fight I want to point out is Nog vs Mir.
Mir is a pretty intelligent guy, but I can't see how he wins the fight. Literally. Of course it's MMA and anything can happen. But this is about the worst match up Mir could ask for.
He actually said, I don't think I can win. All I have to do is survive for 5 rounds.

BTW, since I will be checking this thread now I just want to say that I haven't really paid attention to MMA until maybe the past 6 months, I just hadn't really decided to give it the time of day. Then, one day I was watching SPIKE out of sheer boredom and I caught a match between 2 guys who just wailed on each other and I was hooked. It was an undercard, just two guys with shitty records who fought like there life was on the line. Impressive stuff.

Yes. I have done it plenty of times. I used to think that it was a bit too high. But at the end of the day, a 3-1 favorite is just that. Sometimes he is even a bigger favorite then what the lines would suggest. We can discuss further if you like.

For a fight like Nog I think there is a ton of value. I don't see where a guy is 'too big' of a favorite. Sure there is the anything can happen factor, so I don't think anyone is really ever more than 95ish% for a fight, but in a matchup like Nog/Mir where Nog is 78% but I think he is way more than that, I see no reason why not to bet him. I think this plays in a lot in Japan etc promotions where they often put good, top fighters against cans just to get them over, but the books are, I think, a little skeptical to make guys upwards of -500 when they are clearly higher than that.
Also want to get your guys opinions on early lines as I think it's where the most profitable lines are.

Lyoto -325

I really think nothing of Coleman, it isn't just the 'wrestler' vs. 'Brazilian' IMO. Coleman has done almost zero in his career past 1997. Sure he won the Pride tourney, but didn't look great, and I'd be surprised if he wasn't on some sort of steroid, as I believe this is the first time Coleman is ever getting tested for a fight. He was a solid 225 ripped as could be, I expect him to show up significantly smaller than his normal size. Besides beating Vovchancyn who had fought two hard fights that night compared to Coleman's easy one, I guess his most impressive win is Don Frye in 03, except for the phony Shogun fight. And this is the fight Shogun wanted, and I believe he's got the motivation to prepare for this. He was the best 205er in the world for a reason. A top notch 205er vs. Coleman is way upwards of 85% IMO.

I think the really interesting line is Mir....Nog's been knocked down both his last fights in the octagon, but by two dudes that had no clue how to finish a semi unconscious opponent. Mir's stand up is underrated imo, he's hungry and if he does get a good shot he'll know how to finish on the ground. I think Mir will try to avoid the ground entirely this fight and although nog is a big fav imo I think +316 is pretty ****ing decent.
thoughts?
