UFC doesnt ussually throw cans guys way to build up there cfonfidence but the seem to love Vera so who knows. He will probally play a prominent role in the Phillipines card so it better be a name on the other side of the cage.
Tell that to Michael Bisping!
I don't think that's a bad idea though. Vera is soooo far out of the picture that they need to give him guys like Salmon or Lambert right now. Guys that he should clearly beat, and if he loses.......well, maybe they'll regret throwing all that money when they thought he was the future of the UFC.

I think they REALLY want Vera to be in a huge fight int the Philippines when they go there, and I think they'll do it despite all this, I don't think he's going to just go away. A win or two and they'll push him as 'finally finding himself.'

Wow, but really no surprise there. Yeah Shields would be good, but I don't see him doing any better than Diego Sanchez. I think he's good and is definitely improving but the UFC's WW division is quite deep at the moment. Certainly would be a great addition though.
Nick Diaz? I'm not too fond of his antics, but I love to watch him fight. I'd love to see him back in the UFC.

UFC92
Champ Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Frank Mir (for interim UFC heavyweight title)
Champ Forrest Griffin vs. Rashad Evans (for UFC light heavyweight title)
Quinton Jackson vs. Wanderlei Silva
C.B. Dollaway vs. Mike Massenzio
Dean Lister vs. Yushin Okami
Mustafa Al-Turk vs. Cheick Kongo
Brad Blackburn vs. Ryo Chonan
Mark Burch vs. Antoni Hardonk
Debating on whether to got to UFC93 in Dublin, prob worth it because who knows when they'll be back, and it's a good main event Franklin vs. Henderson

Kimbo will probally be main eventing independent mma cards in small venues for the rest of his career. Cant really see UFC or Affliction having any intrest in him. I doubt Nick Diaz can make 155 anymore so its ww where he would get killed by the top of the ww division.
Anyone hear whats next for John Fitch? I think he is kind of like Rich Franklin, better than everyone else in the division but cant beat the champ.

mmafighting.com stated that it can vary depending on the individual contract. Some may be eligible to catch on elsewhere, others may have to wait to see who purchases their contract in bankruptcy court.

Obviously I'm happy to see EliteXC go out of business. I have said that I believed them to be incredibly shady for quite some time now. Of course it was nice to see free MMA on showtime every now and again. But in truth, most of the fights were horrible. In the grand scheme of things there is no room for an organization that runs things as poorly as they did. Dana White brought up a lot of good points in his YouTube clip. People are betting on these fights. And the mere notion that the "powers that be" wanted the fight to go way or another is a scary thought. It's known that corruption has existed in most sports. But I haven't really seen it in the UFC which is one of the reasons that I like it so much.
As far as the fighters from ElieteXC go, there's really only a handful that could go to the UFC. Cung Le comes to mind for sure. I think he might do well. And I believe that the UFC would want him. Gilbert Melendez, Jake Shields, KJ Noons, etc could also possibly make the transition. Sadly for them the UFC is looking to cut fighters, not bring more on board. Unless you're truly amazing, or a heavyweight. So I guess time will tell.

nobody watching Ultimate Fighter this season?
I love Mir, always have and nothing has changed that. I think he makes an excellent teacher, but I've really come to like Nog as well. He seems like such a decent, genuine guy. He takes fighting very serious, but in a good way. Sure, he doesn't get the american culture of pranks and stuff, but by the time he was done giving his side, I agreed with him. Those fighters have one shot, and screwing it up because of silliness is wasteful.
Anderson Silva seems like an awesome dude as well, sparing hard with Ryan Bader, no headgear, taking shots in stride. Letting Bader get his feet wet. I just may like brazilian guys along with their fat assed women.

Clementi's interview was interesting to me. He talked about how he took Maynard because no one would and he understands he's a dog here because of Maynard's strength, which makes a lot of sense.
I also like Sherk. He has more of a strength advantage here than ever before in my eyes.
I got Thiago at +130 and like it. I think it's close but he had to have been training td defense and such for Diego, and Kos may be scared to pull off a real boring lay and pray. I also think the UFC wants Alves to win here as he's a much more interesting sell against GSP than Kos.
I'm also on Burkman at -220 pretty strong. Sell is 1-4 in UFC with the win over Baroni. I just think this is the UFC trying to get Burkman on the right track by giving him as much of a can as they could. I think the UFC has some interest in Burkman with the Main Event, Fight of the Night, etc. This is also the last fight on his contract so I expect him to really come out strong. Sell, in my opinion, just isn't a UFC caliber fighter.

I am taking Kos just because I think he is on another level then Alves. To me the ww division has 3 tiers GSP on a tier all by himself, then tier 2 Fitch and Kos, tier 3 is everyone else. Alves lost to Fitch a strong wrestler like Kos. Its gonna be a good fight I think but Kos will grind out a UD imo. Performify stayed away from this one for the record.

Agreed. Kos by UD is a good bet.
If you look at the Parisyan fight, Karo had Alves on his back and mounted within the first minute of the fight. I think that Koscheck's top game is going to be better than Karo's so if Alves gets put on his back he's going to have a harder time getting back up.
Alves is the kind of fighter that can flash KO someone at any time though, which is why I like to see him fight.

I mean Okami has a fight lined up, Cote will be out almost a year I'd assume, and Bisping/Franklin/Hendo won't happen for another year at least due to Tuf/coaches fight, and I'm guessing he wants to get back in there ASAP, so a 205 fight makes sense I guess....

I think if Chuck declined to fight Franklin he will run and hide when they ask him to fight Anderson unless its a boatload of cash for his retirement. Supposedly it is a 205 fight next for Sliva though. Maybe Jardine?

I did pretty well overall. I had Leites, Alves, Sherk, Maynard and Sell. Only had Aurelio wrong.
Glad to see lots of people got the Dos Santos fight, it certainly looked like Werdum might not have trained as hard for this fight. He's been in there with some awesome strikers and never been stopped. That was a wicked punch that landed though.
Thiago really put it on Kos. It was a very entertaining fight and Kos' inability to take Alves down surprised me a bit. I expected him to get at least get a takedown or 2, but he had all of them stuffed. Kos showed a great ability to recover, he must have been hurt badly 4 or 5 times that fight.
Maynard did what I expected him to do. Clementi is crafty on the ground, but Maynard just has awesome top control and his striking looks to be improving as well.
Sherk/Griffin was a bit surprising as I expected Sherk to be able to take him to the ground easier and hold him down. The fight was pretty close, but Sherk seemed to do enough each round to win it and he basically outworked Griffin to get the win.
Silva/Cote was a pretty weird fight. I think the fight would have ended pretty quickly if Cote was actually trying to attack. It looked like both fighters respected one another's power and didn't attack as much as usual. Silva in particular probably wanted to avoid getting clipped by a lucky shot and fought a cautious fight as a result. The injury was unfortunate, but I think Silva would have finished him in a round or 2 anyways as he probably would have started to put the heat on him.

Earlier today Daniel reported the news that Bobby Lashley's December MMA debut was in jeopardy because the company he is signed to (American Fight League) announced it is ceasing operations until the first quarter of 2009.
Local radio ads running in Miami, Florida are now advertising Bobby Lashley will compete in his first official MMA bout on December 13th at an event promoted by Mixed Fight Alliance called "There Will Be Blood." The show will take place at the American Airlines Arena in Miami. No opponent has been announced yet.
Lashley signed a two-fight deal with an option for a third earlier this year, but like most of the other fighters under contract with the fledgling AFL promotion, he still has the freedom to fight in other organizations so long as it doesn’t interfere with any AFL obligations.

Oh I agree. I just wouldn't have called it boring in the context of that fight as he was the one pushing the action.

That might not be true. A large part of MMA is being able to get hit and having a chin. His training partner Kristoff said that they train together and the guy doesn't like to get hit. If you are going into MMA you have to accept the fact that you need to be a well rounded fighter. No doubt the guy has world class bjj. But if you look at a guy like Palhares, he will do well against certain fighters and lose against others because he is not yet well rounded. It could be early...........but Vinny doesn't seem to have the heart of an MMA fighter. Being great at BJJ is one thing, but you have to be willing to take a punch.
It's odd. I used to like Frank Mir a lot. After watching him on this season I'm not really a fan at all. I think in a lot of ways he is immature and insecure.
