I've been watching this all day... very entertaining.
My dad walked in the room and recognized Bobby Southworth. I guess my dad used to be Bobby's boss at UPS in the early 90's. He fired him because Bobby would throw packages into dumpsters when he didn't finish his routes. I don't know I just thought that was funny.

Cheap seats $75, expensive $1000. Really, there is almost no difference between the $75 and $150. The $300 tickets are really not worth double the $150 because it's only a slight upgrade.
It's going to be real tough to get seats. I do the UFC fight club presale thing, but even that is tough too. Tickets go on sale Wednesday for the UFC fight Club presaly, Friday for the newsletter presale, Saturday to the public. If this is anywhere near as big as they think it will be, tickets may be hard to get.

I need to see replays because on first sight those knees by Houston looked SOOOO illegal. Good to see Ravishing Red fight through them.

That was the crappiest UFN I think that's ever been put on. The match-ups just didn't allow for great fights.
Diaz/Neer was decent, but not really a fight. I enjoyed watching the techniques on display, that was some high level grappling but I still want to see some striking and damage being done. Only Neer managed to get a submission attempt, the rest of the fight was just a battle for position and it's pretty rediculous to win a fight based on that. I don't blame the fighters though, they were going at it hard and trying to finish the fight, but their skills just neutralized each other basically. It was a close fight and I think it could have gone either way. The Judo throw and flurry at the end of Round 1 probably won the fight for Diaz in the judges' eyes.
Guida/Danzig was even worst. That was an incredibly boring fight and Guida turned it into a wrestling match. I can't really fault Guida for using that gameplan, because it was his best chance of winning, but it's annoying seeing fights won this way.
Belcher/Herman was uninteresting to say the least. Neither fighter interests me at all.
Schafer/Alexander was a decent scrap. I'm surprised Schafer survived that onslaught. Alexander just looks lost on the ground, he doesn't even use his hips at all. He tries to power out of positions using only his upper body, there's no movement whatsoever in his lower body. It's pretty amazing that a guy in the UFC can suck that bad on the ground.

I thought the Belcher/Danzig fight had potential, actually, but Belcher took up jazz dancing or something and Danzig forgot how to take people down. Belcher seemed to be able to hit him hard whenever he wanted, but he choose not to. Maybe he has no gas tank.

I typed out a long analysis of this whole card and it just got erased, so frustrating. Now I have no motivation to do it again.
My pics were Danzig, Neer, Shafer and Herman.
Obviously I lost three out of four.
Because I don't feel like going through each fight, I will simply say that Danzig and Shafer show a lot of promise in there respective divisions. Not sure how well Diaz will do. He has a lot of heart, but I can think of so many people that will give him a ton of trouble. He is just too small for that division imo.

This card wasn't exciting. Knockout of the night and Submission of the night were both on the undercard and Fight of the Night was the main event, and that wasn't saying much. Don't get me wrong, it was interesting to watch, but nothing earth shattering.
Guida is high energy with decent wresting but besides that, he's a snooze. His ground and pound is weak, his stand up is only there to set up is takedowns. He seems like an awesome, humble, swell guy, much better than his dopey brother, but still, I don't get the attraction to watch him fight. His motor is great but his finishing skills don't seem to exist.
Houston Alexander will continue to get fights in the UFC because he's exciting. Sure, his ground game is weak, but he finishes in dramatic fashion or gets finished. That's a recipe for success. He needs to keep sprinkling in some viscious knockouts to keep his job, but he'll keep getting fights for a while. With him in the ring, you have to be on your toes or you'll miss something. You can't say that about a lot of fighters.

I don't know if my personal tenor is that way normally, but this particular card was about as bad/boring as it gets. Like Mr. Mexico said...if Neer/Diaz grapplefest was the "fight" of the night...it was a bad card. I think the Guida/Danzig fight had potential, but it just ended up being pretty boring overall. The Alexander fight had some early fireworks, but then he get's taken down and he has ZERO chance from the ground. I agree that we can get spoiled at times as MMA fans but I think this particular card blew ash.
I'll take the last UFC card where Evans turned out the lights on Chuck's career any day over the snoozefest this card was.

Dream 6 was alright, I'm not a big fan of some of the huge mismatches, but it's still nice to see some of the top fighters not in the UFC in action.
Mousasi's up kick KO of Jacare was awesome. I'm really big on Jacare and it sucks for him to go out like that on a KO that practically never happens. It was just perfect timing and Jacare drove his chin straight into that kick and it would have KO'd anybody. I think someone like Jacare is exactly who would be able to beat Anderson Silva, he's got explosive takedowns and an amazing ground game. Mousasi is one of the more underrated fighters out there and it's nice to see him get some attention now.
Overeem was putting a beating on Crocop before those low blows. Crocop looks finished, his explosiveness seems gone and he looks gun shy out there too.

You always got to worry about Jardine's chin but the ko's have come against super aggresive striker Wandy and Alexander and I dont think Vera fits into this catergory. I would put money on Jardine here aswell because Vera hasnt imprssed me in 2 years and his first fight at 205 was pathetic. I would think he would be more prepared for the weight cut this time but I see Jardine able to fight his fight against Vera. I think the UFC wants Vera to win though.

The match which was billed as the biggest in UFC history is in tatters today after rising star, Brock Lesnar, was forced to pull out of the fight due to injury.
Sustained during training, Lesnar has pulled his hamstring and will be unable to compete on November 15th against heavyweight champion Randy Couture, in what was the biggest fight of his young career.
Although not yet announced by UFC.com, the promotion will now be looking to fill the sizeable void created by this terrible news. One possibility is to pull the “Rampage” vs Silva fight back onto the November card if both fighters were willing.
The Minneapolis gym, at which Lesnar trains were unavailable for comment as I wrote this news, but every effort will be made to reach them during the course of the day.

Yeah, but they're pretty much slave labor. If a midcarder bows out of a show because of an injury, he's semi-likely to lose his spot.

Lesnar is 100% fit according to Minneapolis gym
Rumours of UFC behemoth, Brock Lesnar being ruled out of his November 15th clash against UFC champion, Randy Couture are 100% untrue according to his trainers at the Minneapolis gym he is preparing at.
Mmabay has learned after speaking the gym owners that there is no injury scares and that he has not pulled a hamstring in training. In fact, training for the fight is going very well and the 280 pound Lesnar is in high spirits 7 weeks out.
The gym told us that they had been inundated with calls about what they call a hoax. According to them someone had impersonated UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta on a call to Kim Couture, telling her that Lesnar had been hurt during training and the fight was off.
Fans will be breathing a sigh of relief after shelling out big money for tickets for what is being billed as the biggest fight in UFC history. Take a look at the promo video below to see what all the fuss is about.

I think that is going to be an amazing fight. Alves doesn't play it safe the way that Kos did, so you have two guys that are going to try and push the pace.
I think it's a pretty even match right now. They both have different strengths and weaknesses. Alves is going to be bigger for sure. A lot of it is going to come down to who wants it more.
