I am not sure how many concussions he has had in his career but that may have played a role in something that makes absolutely no sence at this point.

Could you imagine if you were the arresting officer and you realize it's Rampage ? I think I would just shoot him to be on the safe side. Fucking Rampage.

Rampage is all God is my savior and such, this is not like him. I guess losing that fight really F'd him up in the head. I hope he pulss through. Ever since I saw him fight Sakaraba (?) at Pride 15 I have been on his nutz, he is a great fighter.
I only saw the Forrest figth once and maybe its b/c I am pro Jackson but I think he won or lost a much closser decision. And round 2 was NO 10-8. He didnt do ANY damage to Rampage.

Exceppt for the first 2 kicks at the beginning of the round that made Rampage unable to put any weight on his leg. I score it 10-8 not for the damage that Forrest inflicted but for the lack (absolutely zero to be percise)of any offensive moves by Rampage the entire round just hanging on. doesnt really matter though because forrest didnt need a 10-8 round to win imo.

I know Rampage sort of always sounds mush-mouthed when he's talking, but he really didn't sound like himself in this video. It was taken the day before this whole thing went down.

Also, he was just released on 25k bond.

True but those werent any kind of "finishing" moves. For me a 10-8 has to have it be were erh fighter can not caontinue and barely hangs on for the round. Forrest kicked him 2x and then it went to the ground. If Forrest was able to kee pit standing and kick him a few more times it coulda finished the fight thus being a 10-8.

I do think the rules of MMA need MAJOR revamp and clarification for the future of our sport.
Need I remind everyone of to 30-27 given to Tito when he fought FOrrest when it was clear he won round 2. Or the Bisping/Hamill fight the scores in that one were wacky as hell too.

Quinton "Rampage" Jackson has been picked up by police again.

Sources say last night an Irvine police car was waved down by people near the place Rampage was staying who said he was acting weird. This, of course, following the insane chase the day before in which the UFC fighter hit several cars in his monster truck and was arrested at gunpoint.

We're told Irvine cops saw Rampage, deemed him a danger to himself and others, and took him to a hospital for observation.

Cops won't officially confirm if it's a psychiatric hold.

It must be depression as there was no reports of him being on anything when he was arrested. I hope he gets his head straight.

I like Vera, Franca, Johnson, Markham, and Silva to win outright. Although I'm not a big better on the UFC, I think there's value in both Andy and Irvin, as I don't think either of them is that big of a dog.

Sad about Rampage. hopefully he gets his shit back on track and gets cured of whatever it its thats got him ****ed up right now.

On a happier note Thiago Silva Vs. Machida at 89 icon_dance.gif that should be the ME over Bisbing/Leben imo. I wonder who Wandy fights next now as he was rumoured to be fighting Thiago at around the same time.

Am I the only one that thinks Irvin has a chance this weekend? The guy is no chump and he's been fighting good lately. I really hope he wins, but even if he doesn't, it will be one helluva fight.

Should be a good weekend for MMA though. I'm actually looking forward to the Affliction card. I'm hoping that Sylvia upsets Fedor just to silence the Fedor is God talk that has been going on forever. I highly doubt it will happen, but would be great. I'm really looking froward to seeing Barnett again.

I give The Sandman a punchers chance in this fight. He definately has 1 punch KO power and if he does indeed clip The Spider, it will lights out imo. I wouldn't bet on this fight either way. I think Silva will win this fight, but I give Irvin a shot due to his KO power. It seems like a bad bet either way, especially layin -500 to take Silva to win this while only getting +350 on Irvin. I think I would take a flyer on Irvin at +450 or better tbh because of his KO strength. Like Steve likes to point out when he bets...How do u see each fighter being able to win. In this case I think Irvin's KO power does give him that boxers "punchers chance" but I still think Silva will be way to much for him.

Looking forward to this fight and will be watching at home for JC and Steve in the crowd. (If I see U2 I will text JC since he always has his phone nearby and I think Steve loses his for days on end!!!) =)

I would perfer Fedor winning keeping Affliction on track just to keep the UFC honest in what they charge. Because of the competition we are getting more free cards which is awesome. Of course if it ever gets to the point where the talent is more evenly split over a couple of promotions that would probally suck.

Its funny reading the mma forums around the net and hearing people talk about how the Affliction card is the most stackked mma event ever. UFC 84 >>>>>>Affliction Banned. UFC 87>>>>>Affliction Banned IMO.

I pretty much see it the way you do, however with the natural size difference, I think it's going to be tough for Silva to get inside of Irvin and use his Muay Thai skills. I see him going in to this fight with a ground game plan because if Irvin connects, it's lights out.
grocery_mony
I see value in Silva even at -500. Irvin the one dimmensional is going against a better striker. Ussually when a striker goes against a better striker it ends quick. Franklin was close to being a lhw with his size so I still think Silva has the strength to get the plum and knee the shit out of Irvin. If it goes to the ground forget about it. It comes down to a lucky punch by Irvin and that happens less than 1 in 5 times imo.

Anthony Johnson at -290 is a good bet imo.

I hold my nose and take Franca at +135

Upset pick Sylvia +320

Taylor +110

I see Yarborough is +300 against Creuder. That seems a little high to me.

Sorry I can't link the picture...I gave up after the 3rd try, but D!!!!! Arlovski looks like a monster compared to Fedor

Also, I can definitely see a conspiracy behind Alexander Emilianenko getting pulled at the last possible second. That sounds like something Dana White and Co would try to get the CASC to do. Add that to the fact that I think Dana would really really like to see Fedor lose and this will only **** with his head.

My thoughts on the night.

Wow at Fedor. No doubt the best fighter in the world. Completely disgusting what he did to Sylvia.
I'm glad to see Barnett fight great and talking up a storm as he always does.
Whitehead got robbed imo. I had it 29-28 and how Babalu got 30-27 unanimous is beyond me.

I guess I was wrong about Irvin. Silva is great.
Vera looked like crap at 205.
Frankie Edgar remains one of my favorite fighters in MMA. The guy never stops ever.
How did the judges award a TKO against Anthony Johnson. Seriously, wtf?

My guess after watching Franka fight is those steroids werent just for rehabbing a injury. Looked alot weaker and alot slower and sloppier. Should know better than to bet on a drug cheat who is now being watched.

UFC Card:

Pretty boring card overall, the fights sucked for the most part. I don't even know what fight you would give Fight of the Night to really, because nothing was really worthy of it. Anthony Johnson got robbed. This is why betting MMA is so risky, things like this can happen and you end up losing bets you should win. I don't know what that guy is doing fighting if he can't strike with a closed fist, those eye pokes were rediculous. He did it several times in the fight and I think Johnson's vision was already messed up from that already. That's an easy DQ and I think they will reverse the decision to at the very least NC, but it should be a DQ. If stuff like this is allowed to happen, it would let fighters just poke another fighter in the eye when in danger and escape without a loss.

The Silva KO was wicked. I don't know how he got so much leverage on the punch to hurt him while he was holding on to Irvin's leg. I thought it would be more of a fight than that, but once I saw the speed difference between the 2, I knew the fight was done. Irvin couldn't even get in range to land anything on Silva.

Edgar fought a smart fight, but it was pretty boring. I like his skills and demeanor, but he's not going to be able to finish anybody other than the lower tier guys. Hermes almost had him a couple times, I just wish he would have at least tried to sprawl and prevent the takedown. He was way too content to stay in his guard to look for a submission. If he had started giving up position and turtling earlier and getting back to his feet, I think he'd have had a good chance of knocking Edgar out, because he had him hurt bad a few times.

Vera looked gassed and Andy looked terrible. Andy didn't even look like he was trying to win out there, he was trying to wrestle in an MMA fight basically. Vera should have finished someone of that calibre and it was a very disappointing performance.

I knew CB would dominate against Taylor. He's the better wrestler and the top control game is all Taylor has, he sucks if he can't get on top of you and execute his lay and pray. That peruvian necktie finish was pretty cool.

Cain looked good beating up O'Brien who's no slouch. He looks like he might be a future contender with some more seasoning.

That KO by Markham was wicked. Best head kick KO you're gonna see pretty much and he was getting beat on before he threw it.

Affliction Card:

Overall, the card was boring. It's to be expected though when you have a bunch of heavyweights headlining it. It was just good to see all these fighters finally fighting again. Some of them had been so inactive, so it was cool to see them back in action. I was disappointed the Fedor fight ended so quick, would have been nice to see him at least get tested a bit, but he caught Sylvia early and finished him.

Vitor looked good out there and that KO was awesome, Martin's been finished like quite often though.

Little Nog did his thing against Dewees, huge mismatch there though. Dewees had no chance.

Hominick beat a tough solid guy in Savant Young. Its good to see Hominick fight to some of his potential, he's got some of the sickest stand-up and is an excellent talent. He's just inconsistent and makes so incredibly dumb mistakes in fights sometimes. Hopefully, we see a more consistent version of him from now on.

Lindland maintains the title of most boring fighter on the planet.

Sobral/Whitehead was probably the best fight on the card. Nice to see Babalu get the win, always one of my favorite fighters to watch.

Barnett/Rizzo was the exact opposite of what happened in their first fight, kinda weird karma there.

Arlovski was impressive and pretty much dominated. Good to see him get back to that style.

Fedor killed Sylvia pretty much, no surprise there. How quick he did it was a shock though. I didn't expect Fedor to be able to just get inside and blast him like that.

He looked soft around the stomach in this fight. He's kinda always been small for 155 though. In the Sherk fight he was ripped. Now, it may have been the layoff, but it could have been the roids as well. i was just disappointed that he didn't sprawl and try to keep it standing where he was winning the fight.
chaosnhavoc
My only prediction that missed was the Franca fight. I cant believe how boring and poor of a job Franca did in that fight. And my other pick that I won on an upset was Burns, I think that after most of the 3rd round completed it should have gone to score cards, if not a DQ for multiple warnings, if you cant close your hand get surgery and rehab it dont endanger another fighter. I know Fingers happen on occasion but that was uncalled for. Imagine if he could close his hand and all those were connecting Jabs he could have won without the BS.

I'll bet my role on 1-3 fights. Some though is out already on Fedor, so I may not be broke either way afterwards

...................................

Ok, split remaining role on Anthony Johnson and Hermes Franca.

well, shoot. I suck

Fedor's win gives me a few bucks left to build on.
AJ and KB will need to fight again; I get the feeling their bout may mean something next time. Up and comers.

I've seen illegal blows end in DQ, in Strikeforce, but not UFC, IIR.
The rationale is that you could get kicked in the groin and say "I can't continue" and win.
So, they deduct points, but do not DQ. I guess.

I hope UFC has a mechanism to review the Johnson fight and at least have it declared a no contest. That would probably be a reasonable compromise.
