"I'm posting this knowing in advance that it was idiotic. I'm putting it up here just as another reminder to anyone who wants to slowplay their aces.
I was playing 1-2 NL. I bought in for the max of 200 and was sitting on about 420 at this point when I rolled up pocket bullets UTG. Now, *I NEVER SLOWPLAY ACES*! I really don't. But I decided to get fancy for some stupid reason and just called, hoping for a raise. No one raised, which put us six-handed and made my soul cry. The flop came 5-6-8, two diamonds. I bet out 10 dollars and got two callers before the big blind made it 60 to go. I mucked my aces and then the first of the two callers went all in for his last 340. The second caller called, which put him all in for about 330. They had JJ and KK. Predictably, the big blind called with 7-4 and won the monster pot.
Regardless, if I just raise my aces *LIKE I ALWAYS DO!!!*, I'm getting all of their money in the pot and there's no 7-4 to worry about. That one was more costly, emotionally, than any bad beat I've suffered.
Anyhow, hopefully this will serve as just another reminder to anyone considering slowplaying their aces.
Peace,
Jay"
