I just watch ep 1 & 2 of Rob & Amber: Against the odds.....
All I have to say is yikes!!!! In ep 1, he goes all in on the flop for $1000 with the nut flush draw....got called by 2 pair and lost. This is a cash game....I think 5/10 NL. I think Rob had watched too many WPT shows.
And then in ep 2 Daniel cuts up his play when he misplayed the Krablar and then later pocket aces.
It was pretty funny at the end of ep 2 when Daniel was summarizing how the session went to Amber. He's like "He won a bit, but he should have won a lot more", "He's too creative", etc, etc. The funny part was the look on Ambers face and her reaction to what Daniel said. I guess she was expecting Rob to win a million bucks (anything else was a disappointment)!
I can see her point of view though, she thinks he's going to lose everything.......and it's just a pipe dream. At least she gave him a chance. It'll be interesting to see if he gets better.

He won't. Does he have a designated bankroll or is he just playing out of their bank account? If he's got a poker bankroll, I think he'll go broke before the end of the 3 months...

It seems like he's just playing with the cash left over from Carmax after he buys a Porsche and she gets a BMW. Rob seems like such an idiot. If DN can turn him into a poker player, then DN is officially a God.

Your spoilers aren't even correct. When Amber comes up to them at the bar, DN tells her that Rob won, not lost. But that he should've won more because he played it bad. The all in flush draw was a different session (his first session in episode 1), before he even talks to DN.

You're right, I fixed my post.....
I saw ep 3 & 4 as well.....I just skipped through all the Amber parts. I just want to see Rob learning some poker from DN. At least he won the heads up match against his friend. I like how he "upped the stakes" of the bet after he won the first match......that was funny.

Is it me or does the Boston accent make guys sound ignorant?
Sorry Nate.

It's very annoying, but the upside-down backwards sideways awkward visor also doesn't help.

Just watched Ep 5 & 6......DN taught him how to play monsters to get maximum value out of the hand. Rob then goes to the casino, plays a hand where he flops quad deuces and gets the guy to call his all in bet. Nicely done! It looks like he is getting better.......
He was very lucky with his teacher......I mean, he didn't even have to qualify through the Protege competition!!!!

If he is "making it" as a pro poker player with his knowledge of no limit poker, then I must be on the track to stardom.
Or Vegas must really be THAT full of chumps at the 5/10 tables. God, my professional poker dreams have more of a possibility then I thought....
If I just had a bankroll like he apparently does to start off with...
