Okay, here's the deal.
I am really frustrated with what is out there for hand history converters. The one that everyone uses and advises here SUPPOSEDLY supports UltimateBet if you copy/paste from the hand history while at the table, but it really doesn't. Several other sites have similar problems. I understand how hard it is for a converter to cover so many sites and convert into so many different forum formats. Which is why I don't really think this is the way to go.
So... I propose instead that a standard format for hand histories is introduced. Obviously it's too hard to just say "this format is standard, use it" and actually see it happen. My idea is basically to take the converters that handle lots of different sites now and change the logic that converts them into forum formats and instead converts them into the "standard format". Then, seperate forum converters could easily be made that only have to translate from the "standard format".
I for one would be very interested in writing a converter that translates a "standard format" hand history to the FCP forums directly.
If anyone knows the author of any of the hand history converters that convert multiple sites, please let me know how I can get in touch with them as I don't want to do this logic from scratch.
As for how the "standard format" should look, this really doesn't matter too much. Most sites do a fairly good job, although some sites have ridiculous hand history formats. The difference most sites have that have good formats is little things like punctuation, spacing, and order of actions in a hand.
Thoughts? Ideas? Know someone who made a converter?
Let me know...
