I probably push. From my experience, most players will check behind when they hit their flush here, unless it's a 5-high flush or something. A read would help. I think we may have caught him with ATo.

I bet 350 preflop.
And bet 3/4 pot on flop
And lead the turn for 1/2 pot

Leading the turn makes this far more simple. He could easily think a 10 is good here against your probable AK/AQ.

This is usually where I go broke in a tournament. I haven't been trusting my gut lately and would normally push in here. His bet screamed flush to me, and I trusted it. I used the tactic to tell him my cards hoping he'd show his, and he did. I feel like I have to trust my reads more often.
The reason I didn't lead the turn is because I had him on a flush draw when he called the flop bet. I wasn't going to be much more in the pot almost sure that Im behind. If I was a little more confused on where he was, I would have led the turn.

"I put him on a flush draw"
One other player sees the flop with you, and you just happen to think he has a FD often enough to let him take the pot?
Sounds like scared poker to me.
Please tell me you had more than a gut feeling that he had a fd.
Like a read based on prior hands..several of them

Did u miss the part where I said I usually have been pushing in these situations and being wrong when I go against my gut? LOL @ Scared Poker. My read was a flush draw...it came, he bet, I folded correctly. I dont give away pots easy like this all the time, but I trusted my read.

Ok. I'll bite.
How exactly did to come to the conclusion that he was on a flush draw?
Was it based on any previous hands with the villain? It sounds like it was based on plays that
you made prior to this.
This is not a read, it is a random guess. You just happened to be right this time.

Sorry about my last post. I had just taken a beat and wasn't in the mood for criticism

...Ok. No I did not have any prior reads on the player because he had just moved to the table, but I feel you can develop reads throughout a hand. Like in live tourney play when a player stares you down (acting strong) he is GENERALLY weak. I know this does not apply to every player. The "read" I developed in this hand was the speed in which he called my bet. I have noticed that a quick call usually indicated a draw of some type. Now on this flop it could have been an OESD, but it was very likely a flush draw. I felt very strongly about this, but was looking for some other opinions, and thats why I posted this. So I appreciate any feedback and sorry again for my other post

I think you throw away more chips than you gain by folding here in the long run. I know if I am the villian here and have a hand like 7/9, I am leading this turn to see if I can move you off your hand and rep a flush and still have outs if not. Sure he showed you his hand, but how many times are you right. I venture to guess I either don't have enough instincts to fold an overpair, or I just am too aggressive. Either way I go broke right here EVERY time.

I think this is a little scared poker here. I think you have to lead at the turn, because your opponents range of hands includes both hands you can beat, and hands your drawing dead too. If you make a bet on the turn that looks like a value bet, you will get your information that you need. If your opponent then raises, its an easy fold, and if he calls, you can slow yourself down. I don't like the c/f on the turn because you are throwing away a hand that could be good in this spot. I just prefer to try and gain the information.
