I got a read on the villain, but I don't want to make this too specific. How do we play a hand like this vs various players?
TheCinciKid
Meh, these hands suck but I really don't see any mistakes. With a decent read we can probably fold the river and maybe even check/fold the turn, but against an unknown I'd play it the same.

Unless your opponent is very very passive its an easy cap. Being oop sucks but the bb could be reraising a ton of hands here. We have too much equity versus his range.

i hate checking the river on such a draw heavy board when it blanks, it screams "i've got ace high, and only want to pay one bet to get to showdown". why not bet a third time when the flush(es)/straight don't get there?

What calls you that you beat?

nothing, but aren't there hands that beat us (77-55, etc) that may fold to that 3rd barrel, but bet when checked to?

Absolutely not, never. If you're trying to bluff the river with ace high in LHE, you're making a big mistake. If we're betting, it should be to get a call from a stubborn AT, Ahxh type hand.

so is it a check fold then?
iggymcfly
Check-call's reasonable. There are enough missed draws for that. I think the line hero took is probably the correct one.

Actually, I changed my mind. I like betting better. We're calling a bet anyway, so we may as well get value from a worse ace when we're ahead. If we get raised, I think we can fold our AQ pretty confidently.

Nah

We can gain a lot more value from allowing a bluff than from hoping to get called down with a worse Ace (especially since 5 of those worse-aces now beat us).
