24 premier and HSP premier-what an awesome day! I'll DVR the HSP then watch it later.

Cant wait. Hope they show the stacked table at the beginning. Should be great poker.

HSP, 24, Poker After Dark, Lost. Having not watched much on the box in 2006, 2007 looks the year of the potato couch for me.

Bump for best show on television.

this thread isn't about 24.

Is there a thread where people discuss the episodes? I can't find one.

I can't believe that Danny Alaei folded 55 to Chen's bet on a 4-6-3 flop getting 3-1. Sure there was a flush draw out but he's ahead of an unpaired flush draw and he's got 10 outs against an overpair. I just can't find an explanation for the fold other than 'scared money.' (I just watched it again, and apparently a 7 had been exposed, which was one of Danny's outs; but still, even with 9 outs I can't find a fold here).

Jamie Gold seems to be something of a tellbox.

Doyle Brunson made Jamie Gold look like he was auditioning for a soap opera.

Nice to hear DN's commentary but he's better on the felt. He'll probably get better asthe season goes on. The way he sounds though, he won't be staying in the booth the rest of the show, just for a little while.
Zacobius
i think it's just for the one episode, maybe one more... nothing crazy

Are the podcasts stuff they didn't show on TV, or a mix?

Gabe pulled off 2 great bluffs with small bets. Mike looked pretty pissed.

Can someone explain the 50 grand loan to Gold and why Doyle was pissed, I still don't understand it. Why is he pissed?
Lavars
In the first epsiode 8 mins in Doyle talks aobut a game he says is the greatest gambling game of all...sounds something like georges skin??

anyone know what the name of the game and the rules??

mike wanted to load gold money and still be able to "play" the 50k should he need to go deep. known as playing from behind. well doyle was pissed for some odd reason, seems he doesnt trust mike to A) not have to use the 50k he is lending away, cool.gif win the pot should he play it, and most importantly C) stand good for at after both A) and cool.gif transpire. this is just my take on the situaltion though, im not sure if im right

Basically, Gold wanted to add 50K to the money in play, and Mikey was willing to do that, but didn't actually have the cash with him to cover it. If Gold and Mike were busto, where's the 50K coming from? Doyle just said he wanted to ensure that the money would be covered by everyone at the table. I think it must have come from: a) doubt that Mike had the 50K to cover it (Mike might be staked in the game in the first place); and cool.gif a general salute at Gold's trustworthiness (how good is his word?).

Many of the players have loaned out of their table stakes (DN to Buss, DB to Kaplan), without it creating any tension.

Is there more to it? I couldn't figure anything else.

thepokerbay.org has all of the episodes from this season, as well as the past two seasons. They also have WSOP, WPT, EPT, PPT, etc.
pokerplayer258
The podcasts are a mix of things you see and dont see on tv. They havfe some interesting extras from this season and last.
pokerplayer258
Do you guys feel like this season is one of the better ones?

Too many tournament players nitting up the joint.

The table chat has been some of the best so far. Good commentating as expected with HSP. Just wish there was some more poker.

I agree, Gold and Wassicka (sp?) are horrible and not fun to watch. Looks like things are gonna get back to normal with Lindgren, Farha and Elezra. Next weeks episode should be awesome.

Apparently, it's's a silly game called Georgia Skin, or sometimes called Florida Flip. Each player is dealt 1 card face down and you keep betting that the next card will match your card rank first. If each player has the same card rank you must then play a round of Tic-Tac-Toe blind-folded. Okay, I was just kidding about the Tic-Tac Toe part. Best gambling game ever? Sounds like a waste of time to me, unless you like to lose money on pure luck. Reminds me of the kiddies game War, where the high card wins.
pokerplayer258
Yeah
gurrke
Im looking forward to see some new players playing in the next episode.
I think Gold is a nice guy but a bad poker player. Mike M. realized that first, i think biggrin.gif how much money did Gold lose?

edit: New episode bored me...
pokerplayer258
yep
pokerplayer258
the podcasts are extras....they have interviews and special stuff not on the show.

Wouw, episode 7 was amazing!
Best episode of Season 3 in my opinion

They're not adopted. She had a surrogate mother, but it was actually her babies (her DNA) that were carried. She didn't have them herself because of her previous health issues and the possible risks involved.

Any of you guys subscribe to the HSP podcast on iTunes? They just updated with a feature on Phil Laak...the dude is not all there. He and Tilly go great together.

Toughest table ever on next week.

Ivey Makes High Stakes Poker Debut On Monday

A new wave of players will be sitting down at the felt on the March 26 episode of High Stakes Poker on GSN, including Phil Ivey, who, despite a reputation as perhaps the best high-stakes cash-game poker player in the world, was nowhere to be seen on the show's first two seasons.

The lineup for Monday's show also includes returning players Daniel Negreanu, Mike Matusow, Illya Trincher, Phil Laak, Dan Harmetz, Dan Shak, Antonio Esfandiari, and Brian Townsend, along with newcomers John D'Agostino, David Williams, David Benyamine, and "Yukon" Brad Booth, who will be bringing no less than a million dollars to the table.

The AJ/Gabe needling between each other is just for show, right?
I keep telling myself it's just a for fun script, but in the back of my mind, I keep wondering if they're actually getting on each others' nerves.
