Yesterday I was involved in a hand online at stars, $25nl full ring.

Sorry, I don't have the HH, so I'll do my best to address everything that is needed for a good analysis.

Preflop........ two folds, I limp with 89os (I have about $22), player to my left raises 2xbb to 75 cents (he has about $38). Folds around to me, it's just the raiser and I. I have to call 50 cents into a pot of $1.35, I'm getting 2.7:1 to call. I've only been at the table for about 10 hands, no reads.

Is 2.7:1 a reasonable call preflop? I think it's obvious that this hand played out very much in my favor. The reason I'm posting this is to verify whether or not it was a reasonable call becasue this fella really let me have it for an extended period. He says he wasn't a sore loser, just that he couldn't believe that I limped with 89os and then had the nerve to call his raise. I thought it was a reasonable call considering it would be heads up, and his raise was somewhat weak. Yes, I'll be out of position, but I had every intention of folding an unfavorable flop. I like unsuited connectors, especially outside the 10-A variety, looking for a mid range flop that hits my hand.

Good, bad, reasonable, ridiculous, etc, let me have it.

The preflop call isn't awful.

That having been said, it's bad to open-limp in NL ever. I can understand limping very early with a pocket pair in order to build a pot, but why not just raise 3xbb to juice it a bit?

you're playing 89 offsuit OOP against a raise. Hope you have a good read and play well postflop.

Yes, I agree with the no-limping. I've played alot of 6-max at lower levels where limping and seeing alot of flops led to alot of success. I'm trying not to do that in full ring, it's been a struggle of mine, but I'm getting better.

And, yes, 89os, OOP, is not a great hand and requires either great post flop play or hitting a great flop. I had an exit strategy, but didn't need it this time.

Post flop play with a hand like this can be very well disguised if you hit the flop. That's what I like about it, and that's what gave me the big pot when I let him bet into it and called him down until the river when I pushed.

I agree with all you said. Thanks.

The limp is small mistake.
Calling the raise is OK, imho.
