I think he heavily proscribes to the idea that low limit players can't fold and plays accordingly.
This is an interesting discussion to have in this section, I think..how do we approach this type of player, in general?. I see 1/2 and 2/5 NL players that are not even necessarily talented, but just very straightforward and push really hard with semi-strong/strong hands because they don't ever want to get beat by a fish. It can be a little frustrating to play against them sometimes because they make me fold stronger hands than they have, but I can often also stack them, especially if it seems to them that I've been playing a lot of hands.
Case in point, a baller-type of kid no older than me (looked about 17) at the Taj in AC, 1/2 NL. I get 99 in UTG +2, and it's about my 4th hand and the first I became involved in. Loose donk UTG limps, I limp, kid makes it $9 to go, donk and I call. Flop comes J9J. Donk bets out $13, I call, kid raises to $90. NINETY. Donk folds, I him-haw hoping he had KK/AA and put neither of us on a J, then pushed fo $160ish total, he calls with AJ.
So, he raised big in EP, in front of unknown and loose limpers, and then raised to NINETY having flopped top trips/top kicker. May not be a -EV policy at crappy 1/2 tables (could I have really gotten away from the flop if I had the case J in my hand?), as it's basically a post-flop smash-system. BUT, this particular table was at 2am on a Monday night, so most of the players were somewhat knowledgeable...and the kid got crushed for at least 2 buyins while I was there for about an hour.
