Here's a link to the NFL Playoff Scenarios entering the last week of the season. For all the whining and complaining that went on around our playoff system, the NFL's seems just as complicated. I'm not saying some of the questions weren't off base, just that people forget how inherently complicated these things turn out to be.

Really I just saw this on ESPN.com and thought it seemed a lot like how our league was heading into the last week, only they have a team of experts going through the rules and figuring it all out and we only need Sleuthis.

While the NFL system is equally as complicated, it's tough for us because some of the rules were not exactly clearly defined, and there is even more of a likelyhood for multiway ties.

I think an extended season would be best, possibly with 2 games per week. I would like to play 3 games against every division opponent so that we can have no ties in the head to head for a division title.

There's going to be ties no matter what. Hell...there are ties in baseball despite having over 100 games a year.

I don't really care what the system is as long as it's clear at the beginning.

My preference is to either have no cross conference games or to play everyone in the opposite conference at least once.

The second option is basically impossible because that would be a huge amount of games.

I don't mind the no cross-conference play, although that would anger some people who joined the league mostly to play DN.

I actually like the no cross-conference play, 3 games against each division opponent, 1 game against every in-conference opponent. That way any head to head dispute is settled by the head to head game.

anger some people like ME?? it annoyed me more that some people got to play Daniel while others didn't.

it made me think of how retarded the NHL current schedule is...play some teams too much but then not even one game against each team.

hey, it was year no. 1 and it was a very good first attempt. we just gotta come up with something better now that we know what we know.

Zimster...u were always very vocal, rationale and fair...i nominate you to handle disciplinary actions as well as tie breaking management.

different subject.

but i think each regular season "game" could be best 2 out of 3.

Average match would still only be about 1:10 a week.

would decrease the luck factor.

I like this idea and think I mentioned it at the end of the playoffs. Do it baseball style so we don't need to reserve more days to play...we'll just play more games each time.

But since it's not playoffs it would be 2 or 3 games and not a best-of scenario.

The problem with the 2 out of 3 comes with people whose style leads to longer matches. I know that most people don't want to be playing for a couple of hours potentially for a regular season game.

I think what I'd like to figure out is a way to eliminate cross-conference play, but still allow for some people in the other conference to play against Daniel. I don't know if that's achievable, but it would be ideal if we could do that.

i don't think that playing for a couple hours would bother me that much. what WOULD bother me is if we had to play on more than one day each week.

there's no way we can all play Daniel without having a league-wide round robin.

possible scenario is that his team changes conferences each year (somebody with a matching record).
The Czar
Did a lot of people join a $500 league just to play one HU match versus Daniel? That seems crazy to me.
