What decade produced the best movies? I need some time to think about this ... what do you think?

This is really a hard question to answer when it's so broad. I mean I think it really comes down to the genre, director, actor or just personal taste in movies. I would probably say the 90s though with the 70s being a close second if I go by all my favorite movies of all time.

Yeah, tough question...
'70's: The Godfather, Taxi Driver, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Blacula, Star Wars, The Exorcist, M*A*S*H, Network, Jaws
Lots more, but the 70's ushered in the "blockbuster", reinvented sci-fi, gave us several superstar method actors (all of whom went on to play broadly sdrawn caricatures of themselves), spawned a new style of dialogue (thank you, Mr. Altman) and screenplay writing and truly turned the world of cinema on it's ear, in terms of broadening the scope what a film can be.
Yeah, I'll go with the 70's. Other consideration was given to the 40's.
