why such a small river bet?

It was NL cap at I think $7 per person per hand.

When you are the prelfop aggressor, don't check-raise the flop when you hit your hand.

If you are going to raise preflop, continue with a flop bet.
Everyone is expecting you to do so regardless if you hit the flop or not.
So making the bet will not give away the strength of your hand.
And thus you can value bet easily and profitably.

Don't get cute.
