Has anybody seen this yet? I found myself bored last night and went to go see it with my roommates. I was pleasently suprised... awesome movie... possible Oscar worthy performance by Djimon Honsou. Opinions?

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL... dude.. If the academy isn't going to nominate him for Amistad, when he should actually WIN the oscar(which he should have, BTW)... it sure as hell won't even nominate him for Blood Diamond. I do want to see it though.

Go see it then tell me he isn't going to be nominated. He got nominated for In America. I've never seen Amistad maybe I should rent it.

This could be the biggest understatement that I've heard in 2006.

I recently saw it and it was great. All the actors were great and the story was great as well. Its interesting to learn about all of the conlfict over diamonds.

How was Leo's accent? I think he's an excellent actor, but his accents really suck.

He was I Capetown working on his accent for quite a while, I was there at the same time and it seems like he is quite the party animal and baged stacks of uber-hotties.

The whole blood diamond political and war conection thing was warped out of context only as a Hollywood Liberal can but the movie was good.

I thought it was pretty good, but i don't really know how it was supposed to sound like. But i liked it nonetheless.

I thought his accent was pretty good (I grew up in Johannesburg). There were a few parts where you could tell he was trying too hard and it didn't come off well, but overall I think he pulled it off. Adding some of the slang terms made it more believable. I've noticed that the South African accent is a very difficult one for people to imitate.

Dont see this movie for the accent, it is so action packed that you won't even notice it.

Wrong. Its the first thing I noticed in the previews and I have a hard time getting past bad accents or accents that come and go. Seems rough in the previews.

WRONG!!!! Comment in this thread once you see the movie. By saying the movie is action packed and you won't even notice the accent, I was talking about the movie not the previews. Don't judge a book by its cover.

first off, take it easy tiger. Secondly, I know me and regardless if there are monkeys flying out of his butt, I'm gonna notice him butchering an accent.

Just like Brad Pitt in The Devil's Own totally butchering an Irish accent, one of the easier accents to do.


That being said, when this movie makes it to HBO or Starz, I'm sure I'll tivo it.
