400 PLO8, nine-handed

SB - $560
MP1 - $399
Hero - $860

Hero is CO with Ac Ks Ts 9c.

..., MP1 limps, MP2 limps, MP3 limps, Hero limps, Button limps, SB completes, BB checks.

($28, 7 plrs) 7c 4d 2c

5 checks, Hero bets $12, ..., SB calls, ..., MP1 raises pot to $76, ..., Hero folds, ...

In case that wasn't clear, it checked to me one off the button, I bet a small less than 1/2 pot bet, one player called, MP1 checkraised, and it folded back to me. I'm not closing the action, SB still has to act.

Was the bet bad in the first place? Given so, was the fold bad? This is a really basic situation and I want to work on my basics. Thanks.

Easy check-fold. You don't want to put money into this pot until you have a flush.
Don't draw to split.

You don't want to build up a pot with a nut flush draw in a 7-way field?

That was the reason for the less-than-1/2 pot bet on the flop, to induce calls.

yeah, there's zero reason to bet this flop.

agreed. bolded the basics part.

okay, I think this is my LO8 side coming out. I know you don't stack off going for only half the pot heads-up, that's really basic, but I figured in a seven-way pot you should still at least bet for value with a nut high hand (and you can't get quartered with a nut flush).

albeit, it's different if i have a made nut flush on the river than with just a nut flush draw on the flop.

i dont know about at the $400 limits, but where i play i win lots and lots of small pots betting in posistion when checked to on flops like this. in fact when certain players arent at my table who seem to have noticed this i will do it almost every time.

with a made low on board? if the low was just a draw then i bet here WAY more often, but A3 and possibly A4 ain't going anywhere most likely.
