its a cash grab. they know people will buy the dvd right now no matter what, especially with christmas upcoming, and then in 3 months or right before the next one comes out, they can release the deluxe edition or some crap so that they can make more.

i wasn't nearly as big a fan of dead man's chest as the first pirates. not sure why, it just lost something for me along the way. i'll probably get it anyways, but only second hand at blockbuster when it comes down to 12.99 or something.

not as crazy about it either. With no expectations outside of rumors about Johnny Depp being amazing, I didn't know what to expect. With this one, I had high expectations. Just wasn't a great a movie.

Probably the idea of filming 2 and 3 together, we'll get a much better 3rd movie (star wars...)

Hollywood is pretty good at milking.

I stopped buying DVD's for this very reason. That shit makes me insane (putting out a new and improved version of the DVD every six months so you keep buying new ones). I used to buy 3-4 DVD's every two weeks, now I just Netflix 5 at a time instead. If something comes out that I feel like I really need to own (like the 4 disc collections of the LOTR movies, for example) then I'll drop the coinage on it.

Blockbuster all the way for me...I get my Dvd's in the mail and I can take them to my local store, which is about 100 feet from my office and use them as a free coupon for any dvd in the store. The store drops them in the mail and sends the next dvd on my list.
