No, but they would be ahead of every team besides UNC and Duke, and they wouldn't let teams drop 80-90 points on them every game.

I wish there was some way that a team like Indiana could play an ACC shedule one year. Or UNC play a Big Ten schedule. See what happens.

I agree that Indiana would be third. But I think they give up more points per game.

I'll admit that the offense in the ACC is superior to that of the Big Ten and is an all-around better conference. It just amazes me that every game in the ACC is played into the 80's and 90's. There is no way a player like Hansbrough puts up the same numbers he is putting up now against the front-lines of Wisconsin/Purdue/Indiana/MSU.

As a Carolina fan I'll say you are wrong on Hansbrough.

As an objective basketball fan I'll say I dont know enough about the Big Ten to say either way. But traditionally the Big Ten does have good big guys. I think Carolinas fast break would allow Psycho T some easy buckets though.

And Carolina scored 18 straight to get back in this thing.

The only thing about the Big Ten that I think would be able to slow down Hansbrough is that all of these teams will be able to throw 3-4 different bodies at Hansbrough. This holds especially true against a team like Wisconsin, you will be hard pressed to find a team as consistently tough as this team every year, god I hate playing them.

The top Big Ten teams all play a half-court game, Indiana not as much as the other three but they still do. They don't turn the ball over and are all well coached teams and will slow the game down, making a fast-break nearly impossible. As great as this is for teams, I also think this holds a lot of teas back, look at Wisconsin last year. A lot of the teams don't have the offensive firepower to come back or hang around if they catch a team that is shooting the lights out. For this reason I also think Indiana has the best chance to go deep into the tournament because they can play defense and score in bundles if needed.

I dont respect Wisconsins play in the tourney at all. Mich St either. Indiana is the Big10s only hope for the final four, elite 8 even.

Are any of Wisconsins big guys any good though? Or would they just bang the hell out of Psycho T? I think his points in the big ten would come on the break and the line, he might not be able to get off his paint game as well though.

82-72 UNC.

I completely agree with your first point.

Yes, they have talent. Butch was a 5-star recruit that they didn't have last year because he dislocated his elbow. Trust me they will bang the hell out of Hansbrough more than he has ever experienced. There's a reason they're 3rd in the nation in adjusted defensive efficiency. I think it would be hard for UNC to get into the break for the reasons I said before. The rebound the hell out of you and don't turn it over (they had 1 turnover the other night agaist MSU). There's no way in hell UNC is getting into the 80's against this team, they would win, but not in that fashion.

I guess I just cant stand the way the big ten (is percieved to) play(s). Slow and boring. I cant stand that having grown up on Roy Williams basketball.

A 55-52 game makes me just one big floppy cock.

I heard someone on ESPN radio slamming the BigTen, Gottlieb I think, saying how there are only two players in the entire conference with NBA talent and they are both on Indiana.

And the Tarheels win it 90-80.

I can't say I disagree with him. Don't get me wrong, I think the Big Ten is awful outside the top 4.

+1 And great job refs not sending hans to the FT line once. What game were they fuking watching...oh well. I love when Dukes seniors lose on senior night. IE Reddick and Williams and now Nelson. Great job 6pts.

If the zebras give Psycho T the 16 free throws he deserved, the 12 he makes, plus the extra points from the bonus at the end makes that game a blow out.

Clemson/UNC for the title, hopefully we don't come out and get out hustled like what happened vs VT yesterday.

This game is everything to Clemson. They want it bad. UNC doesnt feel that same desire for this game. Hopefully their superior talent will win out.
Jadaki
Good game, Clemson will not be an easy out in the NCAA tournament, they got down 13 and came right back swinging. If they could shoot free throws I'd consider them a serious final four threat.

Wonder if UNC will be healthy by then... not that it should matter.
SuitedAces21
best thing for this team is to lose 3-5 games. if they go into the tourney undefeated or with only 1 loss, the pressure will be suffocating.

these injuries resulting in a few losses may be the best thing for them.

Hansbrough's out for Kentucky, Ginyard's out probably until 2009. We have other nicks and bumps like Frasor's ankle but he went on Saturday v. Penn. Kentucky's not very good this year, they already lost to VMI so we shouldn't really have a ton of problems. It'll be nice to make up another game on them in the all time wins list. And I agree with you guys on the losses, plus this is a good way to build some depth with the two freshman bigs that we have in Davis and Zeller.

Go Heels

Damn it, I was hoping my Wolverines would knock off Duke early this year. I had hope since they beat UCLA...

You said it. He looked so smooth on that break away dunk, until the hard fould and subsequent fall. They dont need him, but if Psycho T isnt 100%, it may hurt them down the stretch.

He'll probably redshirt, leaving him 4 more years to play. Our '09 class just went from awesome and the no.1 recruiting class to even better. We're gonna have a lot of depth in the post the next couple of years and I think we'll be fine this year with Deon Thompson's improvement.

Yeah but I was at the State game and stayed till the bitter end. Hearing the Wolf-Pack chant across Kenan stadium while they were up 41-10 truly made me want to stab myself in the eye. Tell me that we're 8-4 at the beginning of the season I'd take it in a hearbeat. However, tell me that at midseason when we only have one loss and a pretty easy schedule ahead of us and I wouldn't be the slightest bit happy. Oh well, recruitings going well and the future is bright. Dealing with NC State fans over the next year is gonna be a real bitch though.

BBall Heels are in Maui this week, hopefully we win it. Looks like Hansbrough is only gonna play in 2 of 3 games, maybe sit out tonight v. Chaminade?

Go Heels.

Game vs #8 ND tonight, want to crush them to oblivion.

I get a kick out of that segment ESPN airs about Tyler and ping pong, that looks like some stupid crazy shit my friends and I used to do.

Tough road test next week at Michigan St. so who knows. I'm pretty sure the team won't go unscathed through the regular season and I think that's probably for the best. Very impressive showing against ND tonight though, that McAlarney guy just went crazy and we still beat a top ten team by double digits.

Tyler looked like a beast and Lawson was unstoppable. ND was holding people to 58 points a game and is supposed to be one of the better defensive teams in the country. I'm also really likeing the way Green is playing this year, it just seems like he finishes every play.
SuitedAces21
No team has the players to match up with Carolina. If you can handle Psycho T, who covers Lawson? Okay, so maybe you can handle those two. But what about Ellington, Green, or Thompson? Ginyard, Davis, and Frasor.

They may lose, but I dont see anyone beating them.

I think 1-5 I still like the '05 team better. But 1-9, even without Zeller, this team is stacked. Our bench depth is gonna wear a ton of teams down this year, it's just like waves of super high quality players coming at you; it has to be disheartening for the other team. Once Ginyard gets back, it's gonna be even better even though now I'm starting to be of the opinion that Green should start because I think he might be the second or third best offensive option on the team.

As to how good this team can be, I guess we'll just have to wait till March to find out.

They will hit some road bumps in the ACC. Duke games will be competitive and there are a couple other solid clubs there too. I think MSU is a little overranked personally. They don't look like a top 15 team right now in the 2 games I've seen them play.
albertoflamingo
The game on January 11th game at Wake will be a test for the team. Wake is very athletic and quick so it'll be interesting to see how good we are defending that. I'd be kinda discouraged if we just won a shootout because as we all know, inadequate defense will almost never win a national title. And plus, its really really hard to sweep Dook and we might just have one of those inexplicable off nights like the game v. Maryland last year.

Jesus, two wins over teams that were both ranked #4 at the time and can't even crack the top 25... seriously?
