100max PL08 game. I'm in middle position and see an unraised flop.

I flop the nut A-high straight with an A and a 10 in my hand, with a board JQK that has two suited cards as well. Checked to me, I pot it and the player to my immediate left re-pots. Folds to me.

• My hand cannot improve past my flopped nut straight.
• I have no read on the villain as I've only been sitting for a short while.
• I have about $24 more than the villain and re-potting would put him all-in.

Call and wait for a safe turn to get in in, re-pot on the flop, or fold?

PL + OOP + No redraws on your part + redraws on the board + no read + little committed = fold.

exactly.

Naked str8s OOP can cost you a lot of money at PLO8.

Check/call flop.

Check/re-raise safe turn is how I prefer to play this - and I might still get screwed on the river.

Chamon, I like your line better, but shouldn't I lead a safe turn? Worse hands than mine will check behind.

it depends on your read of the player. It's currently a small pot, so letting him bluff gets more money in and helps you force him off a set. If there were more players in the pot, I would definitely lead, but remember, as soon as you do, you are turning your hand face up.
