Full Version: Omaha 8 Limit Tournies Gone From Pstars!
FCP Poker Forum > Poker Strategy Forum > Omaha Hi-Lo
addagirl
Since the schedule change, most of the popular LIMIT O8 tournies have been removed on PokerStars. New PL ones have been added but for those of us that prefer limit, it's a really pititful selection now! I've sent a few emails to support and I know that there are others who have as well.

I was thinking of setting up a regular schedule of limit tourneys in the private section for those that miss our regular tournies.

If you are interested, have a look in the private tourney section for any tourney with addagirl in the title. I'll make the passwords all the same for each tourney: addagirl

I've created my first one for tomorrow night at 9:00pm EST.

If you are like me and others and would like to see more limit tournies with different buy-ins, please email Pstars support to let them know and feel free to email me if you've created a limit tourney that I could possibly play in or if you wish me to create one's with different buy-in's, times etc.

I've actually been doing OK in the PL ones but I really hate them! biggrin.gif

welcome to the forum.

no one here plays LO8 tournaments.

very few even play LO8. mostly, we just sit around and stroke each other.

i think only me, checky, and possibly JacKing prefer LO8 to PLO8.

I saw chamonyx post. I know he does! TY for the welcome!
sealster
I completely agree about this, I like PLO8 to mix it up but limit has been my bread and butter for a while and how I got my start in o8. Hope the emails actually get them to bring back the 3,5, and 11's since I love playing those!
JacKingOff_suit
Yeah I agree with you. I used to play some $20 lo8 tournaments on Thursday and Saturday nights before but they are gone, and now they have only $5 FL (seems like you can have unlimited rebuys until certain period for lo8 tourny), what the hell is that? The only real LO8 left seems like it's the 200 lo8 on Sundays butI never play on Sundays! The only good thing about the changes is that they now have a $50 plo8 tournament every night at 1130pm est.

I think everyone who likes LO8 tournaments should email PS to bring back some LO8 tournaments.

Also, be happy that you've got warm welcomes in the general forum. smile.gif New posters usually get flamed a lot there. I guess it's a female thing. cool.gif

WRONG

I agree with the OP - the 9.30pm $40/50 tournament was great. I noticed that they are really messing with the tournament schedule at the moment, so I will send an email as well. I do like the $100 HORSE at 9.45 though.

Tuesdays used to be great fopr LO8, with 3 tourneys >$10 in 3 hours.

Search thepokerdb.com and you will see Chamonyx cashed in a lot of lo8 tournaments.

Give you a tip, when you get to the final tables, search thepokerdb.com to check your opponents' records if you don't know them.

If you check the db, you'll also see that it's pretty much my game of choice smile.gif

Chamonyx; regarding the messing with the schedule;

Lee Jones released a "statement" regarding the new schedule

QUOTE
Hi folks -
We've just unveiled a brand new tournament schedule that will go into
effect on Monday the 13th. Read all about it here.

Consistency
Some of you have noticed that our daily schedule was not particularly
consistent. This caused some confusion and with this schedule overhaul
we have made sure that each weekday is essentially the same. You will
find your favorite tournaments in the same slot each day.

Time Slotting
If you listen to news radio, you'll often hear something like "Traffic
and Weather at :12, :27, :42, and :57." The idea is that you can tune
into that station and know exactly when you're going to get the
information you need. We've tried to duplicate that predictability:

:00 - Hold'em Variations
:15 - "Unique Tournaments" - We have used this slot for our unique
offerings, such as Heads Up, 6-Max, and Capped Entry tournaments.
:30 - Omaha Variations
:45 - Stud Variations and HORSE

Also our satellites to the Sunday Million will run at specific slots
as well, with double shootouts running at :10, :20, :40, and :50.

Nightly $150
Our nightly $150 tournament has undergone some changes of its own. It
will run at 21:00 each night. But the changes don't stop there; we
have increased starting stacks to 2000 chips, and added three
satellites to it each night at 16:15 ($11+R Turbo), 17:15 ($3+R
Turbo), and 18:15 ($11+R Turbo). Adding 500 chips to the starting
stacks will give the tournament a slightly deeper structure; we think
that's a good compromise between those that wanted deep stacks and
those that have to get up to go to w*rk the next day.

By the way, every Wednesday, we're going to double the buy-in, and the
$150 becomes a $300.

More Games!
The new schedule is noticeably more robust than the old schedule and
offers more variety and more games at all hours of the day. Some
things to look for:

00:30 - $5+R PLO (6-Max)
01:15 - $20 No-limit Hold'em Triple Shootout (Turbo)
08:00 - $11+R No-limit Hold'em
08:15 - $2 Heads-Up Tournament (Winner-Take-All)
10:00 - $8+R No-Limit Hold'em
13:00 - $100 No-Limit Hold'em Freezeout
15:15 - $5 Heads-Up Tournament (Winner-Take-All)
19:00 - $100 No-Limit Hold'em Freezeout
21:45 - $100 HORSE
22:15 - $55 No-Limit Hold'em (6-max)

In case you didn't get your favorite tournament
Now, perhaps we didn't get to your pet tournament that you've been
asking us for the last 18 months. Please forgive us - there's simply
no way we can give everybody exactly what he wants; our tournament
schedule would look like the financial pages of the Wall Street
Journal. But that doesn't mean that we're carving this in stone and
firing all the tournament people. We will continue to look for ways to
improve this schedule, and one of the most important ways we do that
is by listening to you.

What I'm asking for is some time for us (and you) to get comfortable
with this schedule. Like anything new, it will require some
adjustment, but we believe this is a huge improvement over what we had
in the past, and if you'll just sit with it for a while, we think
you'll agree.

As always, we deeply appreciate your support - your business, your
feedback, and your good wishes.

Best regards,
Lee Jones

So, apparently he believes the removal of those great tournies that we are missing, is an improvement! It is why I have continued to email my opinion and am glad others are as well.

They are really two completley different games.

As someone that came over from NLHE, it was a much easier transition to NL/PLO8, but now that I have adjusted to the game, I am making some progress in some higher LO8 games.
JacKingOff_suit
I hope they will respond more.... Hey if you like the lo8 tournaments back, please make a post so I can shoot them another email with a link to this thread.
